Just reading these posts about ECNL, PDA South, SJEB shows what’s the real problem with youth soccer. Not only the incompetence of organizations like US Soccer but locally it’s parents. Too many parents live vicariously through there daughters and are wearing blinders when looking at the big picture. Go to a Regional ECNL showcase go over and watch other matches. You will see some amazing players and teams. The quality of play across this country is played at a higher level than here in NJ. ECNL was formed by a core of the best clubs both from a business perspective and from there success on the pitch. That foundation set the standard that exists today. ECNL will not give out membership to clubs like Dunkin Donut franchises. It doesn’t work that way. Clubs have to earn it and follow the criteria that they deem worthy of admission. That being said both PDA South and SJEB are both mid level clubs at best. They are not ECNL quality going forward. By adding more clubs from NJ you just diluting the product. Right now PDA will attract the best players and that is what ECNL wants, to have the best players from NJ be centralized in one location. If you think I am wrong then why did ECNL jump at the opportunity to have PDA come back in fully with adding an additional team at every age group. That just doesn’t happen. Those who are at the next level have gone to MATCHFIT. That’s just reality. The big question will be if Penn Fusion another worth club will be forgiven and allowed back in with one team per age group. This sport is about players not parents and too many parents lose objectivity of what others see as the potential of your daughter playing soccer.

From what I looked up South has produced good results against a number of ECNL teams (and Non- ECNL teams ) in competition dating back to years, so let’s be more accurate and not just say things to the sake of saying them. Results can easily be pulled up via youth soccer rankings us and soccer in college ranking. Gotsoccer is just too terrible to gage a team these days.

SJEB facilities way better than Matchfit also

Isn’t PDA South PDA’s C-team? I thought B team was in ECNL.

Depends on how you look at it. PDA South was always PDA's NE NPL/ECRL team. When PDA left GDA, they were granted a 2nd ECNL team. That 2nd ECNL team came from PDA's main location (PDA North), and the PDA South teams simply stayed as the NE NPL/ECRL team. So technically yes, PDA South is PDA's "C Team", but the team they put together was not given the chance to be the "B Team" because PDA North kept both spots. Most PDA South teams are better than the PDA North 2nd ECNL teams.

I have no daughter in this one either. Based on its great facilities, number of teams, location, quality of club, etc. - SJEB is a no-brainer addition to ECNL. It would be petty not to add them. Good location for the girls in sj.

The same SJEB that would get smoked by a township club like Real NJ???? Now that’s a funny one...you must be a kool aid drinking SJEB parent.

No one is saying "PDA South should be in ECNL" because PDA is already in ECNL and PDA South plays in ECRL as PDA's B-team. Having said that, PDA South has teams at some age groups that are better than PDA's ECNL teams.

PDA North White and North ECRL teams are $$$$ makers. PDA South is the true B team of PDA. Maybe the A team at certain ages. Prove me wrong.

PF might be welcomed but they did burn some bridges when they chose GDA and left ECNL . Also EPA already has two weak clubs (delco, Bucks), that are not geographically far from PF. Not sure ECNL would want to further weaken the other two clubs by adding PF.

I'm not sure if it would hurt Delco and Bucks if PF was offered an ECNL spot. There aren't many or any players from those two teams who would get into PF first team. If PF does not get a spot and the top players leave that would be a huge boost for Delco and maybe Bucks.

Maybe correct but will have to wait and see. DPL seems like more inclusive, less “protect my turf” oriented league. Should be interesting how it plays out.

ECNL didn’t start out that way, but grew into that in this area. It’s a shame really. DPL could be a breath of fresh air if SJEB and PF added.

ECNL was founded by PDA any they are on the board of directors (along with Stars) and will block any clubs from joining. The only reason why MF is in ECNL is because they are so horrible at coaching that any decent player is basically forced to try out for PDA at some point in time.
