They need to pay their way in to ECNL or will basically be a lower level club. They were lucky to be mid-tier DA club.
Sorry but ECNL is a very watered down league too, lots of teams that CSA would destroy. So it would add quality if they were added to ECNL.

The owner most likely paid his way in to the DA so hopefully won’t be able to do same in the ECNL. CSA have always been a boys club. Their girls program sucks. Should jump on the secondary league with STA and let the boys carry the torch with the new MLS league

You make a great point, CSA is indeed primarily a boys club with the girls program lagging behind and hurt by years of mismanagement and neglect. Much like the DA did they should cut their losses and focus on what they do best, boys soccer.

Ownership is literally begging to get girls (Monmouth) into ECNL as we speak. They didn't sign on with the other east region DA clubs trying to brand together this week to keep customers. Only let CSA bergen go along with that eventually train wreck deal.

PDA and Matchfit don't want it. PDA would be fine if they did get in but MF would suffer if another club got in locally. Going to take time for MF to get a better status with the local soccer community and it's well known. Lost all credibility over the last couple of years.

Unfortunately adding another struggling club like CSA will not help the profile for ECNL. Hope ECNL leadership does not make a colossal business mistake and take them on. PDA and MFA would be affected financially as there will be moving parts locally if CSA is an option.

ECNL Leadership needs to force Matchfit to step up their game.

Sounds like you are scared of some local competition.

Indeed. If your program is so fantastic, why are you so worried about a few "second rate" clubs joining your ivory tower? A few wannabes couldn't possible put a dent in your perfect programs.

PDA would play and beat anyone. WC would beat most teams but not all in the area. Matchfit has the most to lose and will fight to the death giving approval to let anyone in. Most teams that ECNL would consider in the area are all better.

It's not about the more competition and less travel for the kids. It's all about protecting the cash grab. Matchfit would actually have to produce a good product if a 4th club was added to ECNL. Very hard the way the club is set up right now.

According to the ECNL crowd, it's the only thing that matters.

We know, it is all about development.

The reason to limit the number of clubs/teams is to create a smaller pool to allow for more competition. There is a limit to how many good players are available in any age group in a given geographic area. Lets say there are 50 strong players, would it be better to have two teams with 25 strong players on each team creating an atmosphere of competition within the team with another strong team in the area to play against. Or would you prefer to have 5 teams, each with some amount of those 50 players and 200 other players who are not as strong? Plenty of room for arguments to be made pro & con as well as pointing out flaws in this general argument. But I think there are two many teams and not enough strong players and hopefully eliminating DA will funnel more quality players to fewer teams.

                            sorry 75 other players ( not 200)

Its usually a reflection of deeper personnel. Its not a guarantee of better coaching, training or environment for your child. If one team recruits one or two good players from its rivals, the balance tips. So winning usually is correlated to recruiting.

On the girls side, which Club in the last say 3 years, GDA or ECNL has produced ( I acknowledge that most are multiple Club, but lets for now say the last Club they played for) the most elite level players? If we define that as impact players for a top 20 College program? Is it the Club that won the most?

So the rational is having teams with 20+ players and less teams instead of 15/16 players and more teams? Wouldn't having all the better players playing be better than teams hording talent so they can rot on the bench? IF ECNL wanted to make for less traveling then they would have to accept teams that would eat into current player pools for ever club. You can't make shorter travel with out it. ECNL COULD lower this by accepting teams over entire clubs. A lot of clubs have a few really good teams that can go toe to toe with most of the former GDA and ECNL teams in the area but not a lot of entire clubs that could match that at every age group. ECNL would also need a relegation system and kick teams down to RL and promote teams from RL. ECNL wouldn't even need to accept potential weaker team straight into ECNL as they could move them to RL and offer promotions based on teams success.

But then again this type of thinking is common sense and therefore will not be done or considered.
