    STA recruiting webinar during Covid

Does JN and TV have no integrity at all? They are running a webinar for new players during Covid. Apparently this is for any players signed up for tryouts but coaches are being instructed to recruit new players and get them on this webinar. Disgusting and absolutely blind to the times we are living.

It's a business and they are trying to maintain that business. This is actually smart unlike some clubs which are still allowing people to train on their fields during the crisis. The assumption is that soccer will be back in the Fall, so what better way to recruit for next year when we all should be at home? A webinar makes sense.

Totally agree! Smart business practice - and youth soccer is a big business. The clubs that are proactive and engage their players and actively communicate and promote their club will be the ones that survive this mess.

What’s the difference between that and phone calls trying to recruit other clubs players during this crisis? Nothing. They all do it.

Actually it’s not a bad idea. Much better then the car salesmen calls the other clubs are doing to the STA girls right now.

So you have sworn off soccer until the COVID crisis is over and you will pick things back up when soccer is back in session? No...so why should they? Now is the perfect time to take a step back and think things through re-evaluate. I can completely understand people are going through tough times financially and is some cases people’s health is impacted, but for a large portion of us we are hunkered down in our homes working from home, homeschooling and having our kids stay in shape with virtual training. So if you expressed interest in STA previously, what is the big deal with their approach? Maybe you will have a different opinion when your club starts asking for money—let’s see if they cut you a deal.

The amount of players leaving STA is staggering. They need to do whatever they can to keep their club afloat. Too bad they don't keep their word

a good question to ask around is what are other clubs doing and has anyone else heard from their clubs about next year.

Ok so people that don't like STA or have a personal gripe don't like the webinar
and people that still have to conduct business and try and grow their business today like it. I have no issue with safely communicating through webinars. This is 100% better than 1,000 team group texts and 500 side team group texts about where people are choosing to play next season.

Yes very good question. For me I look at:

Has the club or coach reached out to their players and families individually to talk about team/club plans and offered good training at home ideas?

Or have they copied and pasted training ideas, posted kids juggling toilet paper on instagram, or said "here go on this training app (The Winchester) until this is all blows over."

Commincation: That will show a club's interest and value in your family's time, money and in your child.

Excellent point - my kids ECNL club (not in jersey) has done nothing and her coach has had zero communication with the team - going to be interesting to see how many kids come back.
Only thing we got from the club was a tryout schedule with a link to sign up and pay $20.00. Meanwhile they have all of our money for this season.

That's my fundamental problem with this situation - if you have our money for the season, then you should be doing something for the kids. STA thinking about next year is a good idea regardless if you like the club or not. Hopefully they are taking care of their current rosters though.
