Some Town Travel(!) and for profit Clubs have announced mid-to-late March tryouts for the 2020-2021. Are these dates way too early? I under stand the USYS and US Club set ups and that NJ Youth Soccer is looking at the issue. I understand some clubs want to lock in players/customers and see the mid-March dates as a business advantage vs a regional rival...but should NJ go to a May/June state-wide tryouts? Should US Soccer get involved? Pennsylvania is trying an initiative, but is that something that will help is NJ? It's amazing that NJ parents have to circle dates in mid-to-late March. any forum thoughts on this are welcomed TY

To put it bluntly - Yes, try-outs should be held in end of July beginning of Aug not Mar-May or basically the spring season.

Its horrendous and a race to the bottom, but who wants to give an edge away?
Its a moral thing, if you try and put restrictions on clubs, then they'll just hold an 'ID clinic' instead, there is no way to control it
Count how many months of the season are currently affected by tryouts, its over 50%.

50%...HAHA...We've had a girl at at least 1 practice for months and guest played in a few tournaments from another team. It is already common knowledge the coach is trying to poach her.
