    Edp excessive fees

    I wanted to start this thread to complain about a cost that makes no sense for youth soccer:

    1) The excessive league fees charged by the EDP to administer an online platform for organizing the scoring of games, scheduling of games, and creation of brackets for competitive play;

    2) The non-responsiveness of the EDP to club, coach and team needs (OVER 2 WEEKS);

    3) The behavior of EDP administrators when you by chance reach them;

    4) When the platform does not improve, the cost of the league fees do not go down;

    5) When more teams and geographical areas are added, the cost of the league fees do not go down; and,

    6) If you have many teams, there is no discount; and,

    7) The fact that the EDP, other than league administration and tournaments, have not improved the quality of the program at all since acquisition of MAPS, the EDP has only doubled and tripled its fees.

    Now, discuss among yourselves!

      Looks like JN is trying to push people to that 3rd rate NPL league.

        Too funny! For less competitive players, those who want a blend of competition but don't want to play beyond high school, they need those local leagues.

        It looks like the local leagues need to mobilize, or else EDP will just grab it all and make everyone pay more, even the rec players.

        Are the ASL fees posted?

            The brackets have already been released at the USYS level, and the coaches have the link to the other brackets.

            Pretty convenient huh? To whoever started this tread, you just show up and play. Everything costs money.

              Ok, let's calculate.

              On all the age groups, boys and girls, U11-U19 (not including the younger teams), it says there are 3,030 teams.

              Let's say, they pay on average, $895, some pay more, some pay less.

              $895 x 3,030 = $ 2.7 M

              The actual number is $ 2,711,850

              Again, this does not include the fees from teams at the younger age groups from U8 - U10.

              Pretty ridiculous when you think about it, just league fees!

                And? If you haven't figured out that youth sports is a BUSINESS by now you're really a slow adult. In addition, most of your club fees are to cover the clubs expenses and their profits. What they pay to EDP, and hence what your portion is paid to EDP, is very small. If this is all you've got it's really lame.

                  To further water down EDP they have begun a campaign to bring over SJSL/SJGSL township teams/programs into EDP Futures. Other than the money aspect what benefits would this have for u8-u11 players?

                    The benefit is that the SJ kids would get noticed by Central Jersey and Northern Jersey coaches and clubs.

                    The SJ kids would get this benefit by just participating in the EDP tournaments.

                    The SJ clubs typically have parent coaches, so they don't know the deal: what is worth spending money for and what is excessive, what is excessive travel time, which tournaments are better than others, what is the history of league fees and to what level is the league fee excessive?

                    EDP has an excessive league fee, the benefit to joining the EDP league is for the higher competitive level, to bridge the gap in Southern PA EAST, Maryland, and Delaware teams.

                      For a league who's parents don't like traveling more than 30mins or out of state this has 0 benefit. Who cares if the SJ kids get noticed by the central and north? The kids who are capable of moving on go to teams moving into EDP or to an Academy. I just don't see why EDP feels the need to water down the brand by swallowing local area leagues. They just spent all that time and effort with US Soccer to nail down the NL and even be looked at as not just another local league.

                        Correct, it's all about the $$$, and nothing else.

                        They spent "all the time and money to nail down the NL" which costs them what, $1,200 per team, using an existing electronic platform?

                        Another post counted all teams excluding the youngest ages, and excluding NL, and arrived at a conservative figure, $2.7 M.

                        When the U-8 to U-10 teams, and NL teams at all ages, are included, I bet they clear $4 M.

                        Remember, they charge 2x to 4x more than the fees from the leagues where the teams originally came from.

                        EDP does NOT care about soccer, they are adding to the cost. Providing very little benefit.

                          I have a lot more than excessive cost!

                          EDP doesn't police birth certificates at soccer tournaments, allowing / enabling older kids to play down at EDP tournaments. I would post pics at EDP site, I have evidence.

                          This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, it's negligence when an older player critically injures a younger one!

                          Do you want another issue???

                              Why don't you fix it, because we can prove it! :-)

                              Go watch any of your EDP Spring Cup Tournament matches, U-11 to U-14.

                              I have never known kids to shave in 8th grade.
