I believe the link to MF tax statements can be found on this forum.

    There are 2 expenses here:
    - part of the tournament expenses are covered in player fees
    - part of the coach expenses are covered by parents

Club is absolutely correct when they expense the tournament costs.

The discussion of the coach expenses (undeclared income?) here is not clear and neither is its tax applicability. Do they just cover expenses or also extra coaching fees? Some people say it's the tournaments, some say it's away games, and the expenses are also not clear.

I think we are talking about two different things here. I am not talking about the club passing along "expenses" to the parents (although it could be argued the amount they charge parents is a windfall compared to actual coach expenses).

What I am asking is did they report to the IRS that they had over $400K in Tournament Expenses? That would be incredibly disingenuous I would think based on the fact that they do not incur those expenses as a club. The parents do. Unless I missing something.

You suggested that a link was in the forum. I will post it here so someone who knows something can provide an opinion.

Specifically its in Form 990 Part IX Line 24 b. It says "Team Tournament Expense $410,236". How is that even possible?

The $400k is registration fees. Simple enough to audit and probably accurate.

You're probably right. But I found it odd considering PDA is a larger club and in their filing for 2017 only had approx. $157K listed in tournament expenses.

Not sure this makes sense either. First part is with the registration fees. Those are not expenses because the club charges the parents those fees according to this forum. Second part is with the "probably accurate" statement. Shouldn't they file an accurate tax statement, they file as a non for profit.

So if parents pay the registration fees (charged by the club before a tournament), then how can the club claim it as an expense? I get that they may have Tournament Fees, but it doesn't sound as though they cover them for the players.

Is really fishy how PDA is a much larger club and only reports $175k compared to match fits $400k in tournament expenses.
                Easy enough to report them!

Perhaps the 175k for pda is just for the ‘pda tournament’? Is there a link to PDA 2017 statement?

                                Seriously

If you hate matchfit then leave and take your children with you. The club will survive without you. To talk about issues is one thing. To insinuate that playtime is based on parents helping turn on the generators is silly. Walk in someone's shoes before you spew nonsense. Maybe just maybe the kid gets pt because she works her butt off, doesn't complain and remains positive always. She doesn't walk on to the team and expect to start. She get her pt the old fashioned way, she earned it. Leave and dont let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
