It’s club v club so depending on age groups. Otherwise similar. Do you have teams/age groups that you want to compare? That would be easier to determine.
I assume this is for girls. NAL on the boys side is on the whole definitely better than RL.
On the girls side it has changed massively in the last 2 years. There is still a big difference between the North Atlantic and Northeast. Northeast has seemingly gotten stronger this year but is still way behind.
NAL also expanded and has gotten stronger but only has a few NJ teams. The Northeast RL is definitely more local than NAL. North Atlantic RL maybe involves as many miles as NAL, but the drives for NAL are probably worse (mostly to Long Island and Connecticut rather than PA and MD).

and in NAL there is a big difference between Northeast and Mid Atlantic.
Both leagues are just places for a club to sit hoping to be called up "to the big show". Most have a few good clubs at the top, an bunch of bad clubs at the bottom, and a few in the middle where the clubs might have 1, 2 or 3 good teams and then some really bad ones.
as for travel, NAL has the same problem as GA. NJ is split into 2 divisions, so almost all of your away games are far away (1.25-3 hours)
Both are frustrating if you're at the top. You're kind of stuck playing bad teams all season and look forward to playing more bad teams the following year.
If the site has a direct path to a ECNL team, then the ECRL team makes sense. But these clubs with just a ECRL
and no ECNL, makes little sense. Then just play USYS NL and have more flexibility on who you play and what tournaments you attend without the club v club model. At the older age groups, is ECRL really that different than USYS NL?
