Make it free for all. More people will play. Take the best of the best and put them on ships and sell them for big $$$ overseas. There the player will have to play for free until they drop. Repeat the process.

There needs to be SOME free programs for boys AND GIRLS for the best of the best. Everyone else can pay. Focus needs to be on development until u14. Focus on winning at u15 Tooooo many kids are shorted development because the clubs and coaches focus on winning over everything else.

all club should offer free 4 v 4s once a week
all club should also make a select team like what match fit is doing only instead of holding tryouts coaches should nominate players to try out and whoever makes those select teams will do some summer select and winter select tournaments

More emphasis on pickup play with kids. All you hear is "overseas the kids all play in the streets". Towns should organize pickup soccer on like a Friday so it's not just relying on kids and word of mouth to get the kids together at parks. Try to engrain it more in our culture.

There are three things I would love to see
1. More opportunities for pick up play. Even that's hard because fields are all taken. My player (11 years) often ends up playing 3-3 pickup because a lot of his friends have younger siblings who have rec practice at a field nearby on the same day, so they all end up there and just play. Wish they could do it more often.
2. Compensation for clubs whose players get recruited and join an MLS club or academy. In a perfect world we'd have the grassroots system that they have in most European countries but I'll take some form of compensation, which ends up favoring development and lowers cost.
3. Proper league placement. Right now which team ends up in which league and which division is so arbitrary.
4. related .. fewer leagues.

the club vs club as to change. It needs to go based on team in each age group. Not the entire club. Just because one team may be good in a club doesn’t mean the rest are. Competition is poor. And if you so call need good competition to get better…well everyone in ECRL is screwed.
