Is this the same MFA team that Naysayers claim only do kick and run? I just went and followed some MFA Players on IG/ HUDL and they seem to move the ball around well in addition to possessing the ball as necessary. Makes me wonder what else is behind all the nefarious anti MFA posts…

Can they play possession, yes. These girls are talented players as many have said on this site despite those stupid posts by coach about the talent pool etc. Yes, I’m sure there is film of them doing so. Do they play possession on the regular, no, they are instructed to get it up and play long ball. They punt 90% of the time, rarely build out, take shots from mid field on kick off, play a ton of long over the top passes that are turnovers. Their identity is kick and run yet they have players that can play possession as good as anybody at this age. This is part of the reason parents are infuriated with this club and why people leave.

Just b/c you don’t play “possession” doesn’t mean you aren’t good.

in contrast- most of the teams they beat try and play possession and lose. So who is right?

When you refer to what’s ”right” are we still talking about u12 soccer?

Because if you have to ask that question then you’re part of the problem.

Every team can play possession against inferior team, but when they play good teams, against girls that know how to play, MFA instantly switch to kick and run. I watch 2011 play last Saturday, and I didn't see them having more than two or three sequences in the entire game when they were able to connect three passes on the ground consequentially. Another red flag was goalie booting entire game, no building from back, no trying to stretch the field.

This clip was MFA 2012 vs Penn Fusion which undoubtedly is one of the best teams out there. Facts contradict your postulations/ inference on MFA only playing possession against inferior teams - I have watched several MFA teams play across different ages in tournaments and they do play possession as well as build up from the back. I have witnessed MFA teams from Morris, Mercer, and Shore doing so across 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009 age groups.

Now as with every team it’s debatable whether more or less possession should be played. Personally as a coach, my tactics counteract what I see in the matchup I’m going against. Nothing is set in stone - adjust tactics as necessary to keep opponents reeling.

You can keep lying that’s fine. Parents continue to see what is happening on the pitch. A few clips of good soccer in highlight reels doesn’t mean the majority is good soccer or the overall philosophy is good. Everyone at the club knows what style is predominate. We see it week in and week out. Kick and run. Instead of denying; maybe change the philosophy to keep your customers happy? That’s probably a good business move before all your players who can and want to play a different style leave. It’s really up to you guys to recognize the issue and drive change. If you don’t I will guarantee you will see players leave that you’d rather have stay. You’ve already lost good players to your **** style and management. How many more have to leave before you reflect and make a change?

Is not debatable, any youth team should based their game on more possession, no matter what a game outcome is. Kids are developing phase, possessing ball makes your player improve ball and dribbling skills, also forcing them to scan the field and make right decision. If you don't understand that you should find a different age to coach.

You can keep telling fibs to save face on TS. The reality is the parents voices have spoken. If you continue on the course you’ve chosen, our kids will be welcomed with open arms often for discounted rates at many other clubs in the area. Those clubs will improve and your club will struggle. This needs to be about the players and their development not about your egos and simply winning at all costs like it has been. You are dealing with people’s kids and people are upset with how you are handling things. This is a fact, and is not a good situation for you. Take action and change or be ready for an exodus. We demand more.

I’m not a MFA coach or mgmt official and don’t have a dog in this race but reading through these comments they mostly come across as if you are being held at gunpoint to keep your child at MFA.

This is Youth soccer for god’s sake - you are free to leave and change teams if you don’t like your club’s philosophy or playing style. I don’t see how posting these negative comments on TS will positively influence your club’s management into effecting your desired changeover the real, if your mgmt is purportedly so horrible they won’t heed constructive feedback from parents WHY or HOW then will they give a hoot about anonymous comments on a msg board like TS? I will deduce therefore you are not here to seek positive change in your so-called club rather you seek to destroy the brand and club’s name which raises question about the authenticity of your claims.

Your motives strike me as dubious to say the least. You have an axe to grind but haven’t disclosed the true reasons why.

Perhaps MFA should consider an anonymous survey to parents? When it comes back with the same issues maybe then they could validate the authenticity and make positive changes. As of now, parents have had no ability to provide anonymous feedback, except for on this site, which is why you see so many parents posting their issues. There are a lot of issues and a lot of parents are very annoyed. The only current way to voice concerns about what is going on is to approach management and risk retaliation on your kid, which is a real concern given this clubs history of punishing players who’s parents voice concerns. The parental group is united and wants change. Take this advice and make a change before we do.
