What does USYS have to do to motivate clubs and players to play NL through 19U? The drop off after 15U is drastic.

IN REALITY THOUGH, ECRL is worse than USYS. But everyone thinks they need to get on one of those teams before high school age.
I know a girl who plays for wall still as an 09 and she’s just as good as good ECNL players. If you want a social life along with soccer…going to those leagues that require travel really puts a damper on it. Time spent traveling to the academy 2-3 times per week plus time to travel to games on both weekend days sometimes. It’s a lot of hours spent traveling to play 30-75 mins in a game.
IF you can find a good team with a good coach in USYS… you are fine staying there. If you want to go on to play in college.. then you probably want to get on an ECRL or ECNL team by soph year of high school for recruiting purposes only.

other teams that are good in USYS longer term besides Freehold are Football academy, Wall, and Torpedos. Those are good options if they are local and you don’t want to do the traveling with some of these other leagues
