It's not a New Jersey club. She was originally with a DA club and then switched to an ECNL club later on, a club that has a great reputation for getting kids onto college rosters.

"not that good" is relative. There are dozens of players that are much better. My personal opinion of her play is irrelevant, as I see her much better than she is, but also her biggest critic...it's the parent in me. Truthfully, it was a D3 school who told us we should be considering better options, which sort of surprised me with their openness.

Not arguing, it's a contradiction ;-). OP made an incorrect statement, and I called them out on it. I was then mislabeled and told I was full of it, so I've provided facts as much as possible without revealing too much. You are more than welcome to take the facts as-is, or not. I can list everything I care about that on a piece of confetti.

It would be helfpul to not speak in extremes, to not say "any" or "all" or "none" etc. for items of which we just don't know anything about. Opinions are welcome, but when facts are presented, at some point you just need to nod and move along.

Either way, I'm on my way to catch a flight for her game this Sunday. I'll be thinking of y'all.

How do these series of unrelated facts equate to a lie? How did you equate my club was "unsure"?

Typical NJ TS commentary: Sour parent bloviates and is called out, so they turn to insults and distractions. No wonder New Jersey is the armpit of America.

        Have your fun this afternoon!

Can't have been a D3 school with a good soccer program. Either that or they were actually being snarky because you were asking questions about resources available to athletes/teams at their school.

Has anyone tried to compare costs against other sports. The cost of competitive dance is MUCH more than any soccer club, classes and camps. At the end of the day cost is a big factor, but not having kids involved in competitive activities has a cost as well. Staying active, competitive and part of a team is huge and so many benefits that are priceless.

Otherwise, my kids would be sitting around watching YouTube and likely getting into trouble. Having them do something they enjoy is 100% time/money, but they will always remember those times. The scholarship fantastic, but the journey is enjoyable and worth every minute and dollar if you make it.

I agree with your points and do same thing as you , that’s why kids should play multiple sports or activities, when kids quit all other sports at 8 and commit to soccer thats
.a big decision and the child can’t accurately make it . A lot college kids still havnt declared a major at age of 20 . The point of OP is that if you make your child do that it better pay off bc they are missing out on a lot of things they may have achieved at . When parents compare 8 year old scores and ratings it’s almost insanity and a lot do . But I appreciate your post its valid

I think the note about only playing one sport is child dependent. Sure if the kid wants to play other sports and is good - I agree. My D is smaller and she only takes a dance class once a week and wants to play soccer. So it's not like bball or other sports really interest her - that works too.

You can't play two club competitive sports. You would have to do one rec and one club bc the schedules always overlap. So it really depends but you shouldn't make a kid quit a sport if they really like it.

Most great athletes may have but most great soccer players didn’t.

What is it with the constant idea that this is all for scholarships? My daughter pays “high level” a solid player who plays most of the game and that’s it. I could give a rate ass about college and or scholarships. Yes we spend money on the sport but she likes it and it’s fun for her. Everything is expensive. Music ,cheerleading, and dance just to name a few. I am pretty sure most parents know that a boat load of money or offers are not waiting . Just play have fun and ride it out. I hope my daughter plays in college if she is good enough and actually wants to. The money we spend on our kids activities are not an investment they are actually just money spent. The end.

And quoting high level player !!! lol another buffoon . Just admit the truth you’ll feel better , you mindset is you don’t care bc you setting yourself up for the disappointment that you k is is coming after HS

Any parent who says I don’t care if they play college is a parent of a player who’s not good

No! Playing in college is not some grand achievement. The goal of college is to prepare you for adult life, and if you're not playing professional sports, then you need to consider the tradeoffs of playing college sports. Time and focus on things that better prepare you for life after college are obvious tradeoffs. And, the tradeoff of playing sports at a 'lesser' school than one you would have gone to on the academic merits.

Obviously some people have positive experiences playing sports in college. But it's not a universal good for every high-level athlete, depending on their personal situation and goals.

Obviously basically no one will earn a living playing pro soccer but any parent who’s kid plays ecnl/rl ,GA , mlsnext and some other leagues wants their kid to play in college .

What about the parent who really doesn't want their kid to play in college but the kid is really good and insists on trying to get there?
