Definitely seems like someone not cut out for club soccer if you are insecure about being insecure.

Hey, I get it. Putting yourself out there isn't easy and it's not for everyone.

I hope so too! My older son did it and loved it!

Why are you taking shots when it wasn’t warranted? Like how did we even get here?

The V team always underperforms.
Just curious...does she love playing soccer? Or does she just stick with club because it's what she's done for most of her life?

She likes it a lot, but honestly JV wasn’t challenging last year. Last season the jv coach would have to pull her and a few other starters off the field because the game was out of control lop sided. She’s played jv already 2 years. That isn’t fun.

Can her JV coach talk to the varsity coach and vouch for her?

XC and working on skills (or private training, or look around for a single season club team) doesn't sound like a bad option. Playing JV, even if it sucks, isn't bad either if there's a chance of making varsity next year. She could always play more selfishly there to work on her own dribbling skills in prep for next year.

Even if a coach "rarely subs," wouldn't they want the next best CM on the team/bench in case someone gets hurt? If a team asks outside backs to participate in the offense, they might get very tired - if her defense is decent she could ask to be at least a backup outside back. Basically, as a center mid, there should be a case to make that she has all-around abilities where she could get minutes at wing or outside back.

There's a good point...if she plays JV, coach will need to take her on varsity when she's a senior...but if she skips this season, she is pretty much giving up HS soccer.

In the end, tho, I agree that if she's not enjoying playing JV and varsity coach doesn't give her the option of joining the varsity team, probably not worth continuing with HS soccer.
