    “You’re Too Slow For D1 Soccer”

    Have you heard this?

    With the roster size changes to D1, your lower divisions should benefit with better athletes that they once couldn’t get before. You will start to hear;

    “You’re Too Slow for D2 Soccer”

    “You’re Too Slow for D3 Soccer”

    Playing college soccer at any level will be more competitive than ever before.

        explain what you mean by this? Are D1 taking less athletes with the roster change?

          So you copied verbatim what College Soccer Truth posted on Instagram. The college recruitment landscape is changing right now. The gap between the haves and have nots will widen even more. I believe the mid majors will take the biggest plunge. They were able to offer more athletic money to top recruits who were not getting full scholarships from P4 colleges. Now with 28 full scholarships those players can committ to P4.

                You are assuming every P4 school will fund 28 Full scholarships. Between the settlement with $40 million in backpay and moving forward having to profit share up to $22 million, even the big money schools will be having issues funding all of the increased scholarship limits in all sports. Primary focus will be on Football and basketball.

                  If your daughter is a top rated 2026 recruit she has likely already committed to a top ranked/rated college with a full athletic scholarship. Years past with 14 full scholarships Coaches had to maneuver and wait before committing full or 3/4 scholarships. Not anymore these conversations with the College AD have given the okay to go tov 28 if they are the top players. The “Haves” are therefore moving quicker to commit these top players.

                    Please remember a verbal commitment is a non-binding agreement between coach and player. Since it is non-binding, a verbal commitment can be broken or taken back at any time by either the coach or the player.

                      What’s your point? Most understand what a verbal commitment means. The top 2026 players verbally committing are highly unlikely to be broken by either party. If your a top recruit at a top ranked college program why would the player or coach revoke the verbal commitment?

                        The upcoming changes in the college sports landscape affect way more people than just top recruits. The vast majority (especially who banter on TS) are not top recruits. Stop using your 1 simplistic example of a top recruit at a top ranked college program as a basis for whats going to be happening for everyone else in all college sports

                          Have any of your kids turned down a D1 scholarship in one sport so they were able to play two sports at a d2 or d3 level?

                            No, but a friend's kid turned down a full D1 scholarship in soccer to accept two partial scholarships in two sports at another D1 school.

                              College Soccer Truth seems more like a chicken little type...Even with the roster cap I doubt much will change since a majority of schools already field about 28 players. Either schools will move those "academic" scholarships to sports to keep the accounting simple or they will still impose a scholarship budget by sport. Either way it is almost guaranteed that conferences will start to impose limits or accounting practices to even the playing field between schools within the conference. I expect women's soccer to be one of the more safe sports due to title ix as women's basketball was already funded with 15 rosters spots and 14.9 scholarships and major men's sports ie football, basketball, baseball adding 33 scholarships between them.
