    USYS NL and EDP

Can a child play for both a USYS NL team and an EDP team at different clubs? I know you can’t play for 2 different EDP teams/clubs but I’m not sure if USYS NL and EDP would be okay since they still fall under the same umbrella organization.

    Yes. Considered different leagues.

        Answer I got from EDP

Yes, if one team plays in the USYS Conference and the other in EDP League, then that would be permitted. She would need to be primary in the NL conference team and secondary in the EDP League team as secondary players are not permitted in the NL conference.

Why would you do this? Playing for 2 club teams is a recipe for burnout and injury. The next thread will be why are so many acls happening to female athletes. Well….

Just because ppl do it doesn’t make it right. Like I said, playing multiple games in a day and 3-4 games every weekend is a recipe for disaster. Overuse injuries are an epidemic in girls soccer and this type of stuff is a main reason why.

No need to play for two teams in two different leagues. Between practice 2-3x a week, plus games every weekend, go do some group training if you feel like your child needs more touches on the ball.

I really do not see how this is possible. They are really just EDP 1&2 and EDP 3-whatever. Technically E64 is USYS NL too, so are you saying my kid could play (if it still existed around here) in E64 and EDP for DIFFERENT clubs?

Sure - my kid did this with her club and her town travel team one year. Its because USYS and EDP are actually different leagues that can draw from the same pools of teams. The same way EDP League and EDP North Atlantic (For NY teams) or EDP Connecticut Championship are different leagues. Both play USYS at a higher level and there is crossover.
