    Cleats

Is there really much difference besides weight in the cleats that are $300 compared to the cleats that are $90????

Put on a pair of Payless shoes and compare them to pair of Allen Edmonds and get back to me.

Just wear them and see. For a lot of players it doesn't matter and the $90 are good. If talking Nikes, the flynight on the Pro tends to tear often whereas you almost never see that on the Elites. The soleplate is different too which you can feel on some surfaces.

No idea what Allen Edmonds are, but I am guessing some pretentious shoe worn by the same guy who has an ECNL magnet on his car?

The price of cleats is for comfort and weight of the cleats. The real thing to look at when purchasing cleats is the sole plate and what surface you are playing on to avoid injuries. I would not wear FG or MG cleats on turf/Artificial Grass. Only AG or turf shoes for turf/Artificial Grass. You are better off buying 2 cheaper pairs (1 FG and 1 AG) then 1 expensive pair. Injuries will cost more then a second pair of cleats, especially for girls.

I'll just say, comfortable supportive cleats can help keep your feet in good shape. Which helps your calves, your knees, your back. Don't skimp on footwear ever (says the guy who spends 99% of his time in flip flops....).

Comfort and support aside, soccer is a "feel" sport and, since you play with your feet....

What’s the difference between AG and turf shoes?

Turf shoes are rubber soled with small nubs. AG are actual cleats but the studs are round and sorta hollow and meant to give traction but not too much grip. AG plates help reduce chance of non-contact ligament injuries.

Stay away from the all ground cleats that Nike puts out for their club and academy lines. Other posters are correct, don't cheap out, and buy a pair of turf and a pair of grass cleats.

Get one pair of turf and one FG.

my daughter prefers her FG even on turf. I’m sure that’s not a good idea though.
