I highly doubt that! You will be there! Its one of the top tournaments around and a good gauge on where you are compared to other teams you wouldn’t play from various states! I believe they place you based on your standings.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

Do you think teams get to pick their flight? Clearly you haven’t been to a top tournament with elite teams. Everyone puts in for first flight. But not everyone can get it. Jeff Cup has a tendency to put ECNL teams ranked lower than other teams in the first flight. Look up and down all the age groups. ECNL teams are placed in top flights when they haven’t earned it. And more Specifically those close to that area geographically.Comment

You are funny. I think thats what he was trying to say. They(top tournaments) go by your strength of schedule, match play and overall record and place you accordingly! The team can request doesnt mean they will get it! They should work to strengthen their schedule prior to the big tournaments. But since you have been around for a while you would know that! Oooo and a quick check at Jeff Cup showed there were 6 GA 6ECNL teams in the top 11v11 bracket…. Soooo now what. I have to agree with the other poster on this one. Jeff Cup has now become renowned for picking ECNL-based clubs in both the boy's and girls' brackets. If you think this is BS just go look at how badly flighted the boys brackets are, weak ECNL teams are in the top flight over top MLS teams. They are a strong member of the ECNL and do everything to push the marketing of the brand at their event; if you think otherwise, you are very naive or don’t quite understand the landscape.Originally posted by Guest View Post

Other posters have said it before: we have become scared of real competition in this country. After U12, we do everything to market a brand while ensuring the best of the best can’t and won't play each other. Proof of this is the pettiness of some of these arguments on here shouting why your badge brand is stronger than the others; its has become so pathetic. Parents have become zombie foot soldiers for the brand and by no means am I saying I am innocent in the participation of this BS.

i don’t think it’s anything against the club personally. How many represented each state in the first bracket of Jeff cup? The tournament likes a variety of states and different teams in the bracket. I believe that there were already 2 NJ teams in the bracket so by default the lesser ranked NJ team goes to second flight. At least they didn’t have to travel all the way to Jeff cup to play their NJ neighbor in SJEB. And that’s another reason teams are not going to this tournament anymore.Comment

This absolutely makes sense. In the first flight it had 4 brackets which had various states. It did have 3 Georgia teams. I do believe they try to not put teams in the same bracket that can play each other normally but if it gets to the final it is what it is. But I also believe that it has to do with where you play (flight)and what your record is. You can’t expect to be in the top flight at Jeff cup when you are not in the top flight in your league(even if you are playing up)Originally posted by Guest View Post

I think winning 7-0 at Jeff cup in the second flight when they had hoped to be in first bracket, is also sending a message that they were misflighted. In hopes they would maybe be placed in first bracket next time.
I don’t disagree with not being able to be flighted higher bc not in top league. That flight was most likely chosen so they were not placed higher then the REAL 2011 team.Comment
