A Hard Truth to 2009 MFA Parent(s) And Others

Reading these GH and Goalkeeper posts are absolutely obnoxious. I have seen MFA play many times and the team has multiple good players, no just GH. You all are extremely disrespectful. Below are some hard truths that you need to accept!

1. Soccer is a team sport! One player is not going to bring a team to the top 3 in any ECNL division!!! Stop acting like GH single handily is responsible for the teams success.
A. PDA Blue was already a top team just below or equal to MFA before the PA girls left MFA.
B. If GH (or any other 2009) went to say PDA South, Maryland United, Bethesda or Pipeline, they would still not make playoffs.
C. Take Mack W. As an example. Top 2010 that plays up on USYNT 09s who joined Slammer HB this year. Slammers record this year is worse than last year.

2. I honestly don’t know if it is a parent of GH, a coach of GH, or just trolls posting this crap. I hope it is just trolls. Either way, you hurting this innocent girl of opportunity. College Coaches that look into social media and forums like this will cross her off their list because of TS.

3. And to everyone - if you are acting horribly on the sidelines and you have raised your kid to be a selfish soccer player with a dirty mouth and attitude, no matter her talent, say hello to a lowly Academic College. Those schools will be the only ones to offer her a roster spot.

Point 3 is so accurate and very few players understand it. They love to point to the one bad seed who still goes high D1 and fail to realize that for every 1 of them there are 20 others who would have a lot more offers and interest given talent alone but don't becuase of poor behavior or not being a team player. The easiest thing to control to help you in recruiting is attitude and team play. I have been through this with one daughter and nearing it with another. Cheer for teammates if on the bench, don't mope if you are subbed out, run over and high five or hug the girl that just scored. Even if you are a jerk, pretend not to be during games!! If you don't believe me, next showcase you are at just ask random college coaches about it.

In general a lot of the PDA/MFA 09 threads have been obnoxious recently. It's crazy how many people seem so eager to go online and put down hs freshman for not winning every game(This is especially crazy considering both teams are ranked top 10 nationally which should be praised). With that being said, while it's one thing to make generalities about some of these teams(which in many cases gets weird and goes completely overboard), it's even more ridiculous that people are not only making comments but entire threads about specific players. It's amazing how people feel like it's appropriate to comment about other people's children.

That being said these threads area a useful reminder to keep your plans and goals to your self. While many parents and children are friendly, and your child should ultimately be having fun, at the end of the day it's competitive. Plenty of people will wish you ill, and view your child as competition rather than as a teammate or a friend. In that sense, I ultimately don't think a lot of the comments about specific players are trolls, and instead are often from jealous and delusional parents

Also, tell your kids to be good people and great teammates. I am sure some individuals that get bashed on here are good kids and it is just unfortunate, but you have a much better chance of receiving praise and avoiding hate if you are a good person and teammate.

There are cancerous players/parents on just about every team. Players usually a product of the parents. Major egos with no idea how team sports work. They should have played golf or tennis instead.
