    Appreciate your Defense

Ok coaches- and parents. Can everyone take a moment to thank your defense?

Have measures of success and failure for all positions and apply the same amount of cheers and criticism.

As the parent of a defender, it is sad to see your kid get in the car after multiple clean sheet games and have her feel like the only feedback the defense got during the game was negative- even with no goals against them. Yet, offense can shoot a million times- miss every time and only receive support and praise - “don’t worry you will get it next time”.

Stop doing this coaches. And stop the social media posts for a 2-0 game with the names of the two players that scored. It’s a team sport. And if no one can score against you freaking thank your defense.

Glad you have your kids playing for social media gratification. Yes of course defense is critical and anyone who actually cares/knows the smallest amount about the game will notice.

I agree with your sentiments but my soccer playing kids both play defense on high level teams. Both get a ton of recognition for their efforts.

The issue come when their achievements during a game are ignored/not understood/ unseen and only mistakes are acknowledged.

If you have a coach that only focuses on issues/mistakes and never offer praise…that’s an issue….its a balancing act.

Defenders are just aggressive players without the skills needed to be mid or striker. They should get no recognition.

I don’t know what team you play for but some of our most skillful players are in defense. Maybe if you play for a team that plays direct but on the best teams they need to know how to handle and get out of pressure. The best teams are built from the back.

Sounds like your kid’s coach is a fraud. Leave that cesspool.

Yep, if Real Marid only put Ronaldo, Modric, Bellingham on defense think of how many more games they would have won!
