    “B” Teams

I have 4 kids who play soccer across various ages and have been on both “A” and “B” teams on several different clubs m
different points in their soccer time. I have noticed that most clubs really don’t care about their “B” teams and treat them like crap. It is kind of amazing to me how bad it is and the pattern has been across clubs. I’m talking about basic customer service issues such as a scheduling, how practices are run, giving evaluations as promised, etc. The only one in my experience where this has NOT been the case is STA who at least for “A” and “B” are good.

seems better to be on an A team at a worse club than the B team of a better club.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

This all adds up extremely well. PDA white “ B” beats Sta “A” and somehow it makes sense to go to the loser. Some funny math around here.

100% truth at PDA. Treated like 2nd class citizens. It’s awful.

Agreed but no club is better then the next in terms of this. What exist are better situations for different people. What works for us might not for you. That’s how you select a place for your kid to play.

NJ Blaze is the only club I've ever seen where they treat all kids as equals. Hands down the best option in NJ, or the east coast for that matter!

Any team, whether it’s A B or Z will only be cared about if they are winning at a high level. Otherwise they mean nothing to their club.

D was on B-team at ECNL club for most of her time in youth soccer (currently a junior in college). Definitely saw differences in how the club treated the B team and A team (obviously, A team got more attention from the DOC, more support for recruiting, etc), but in terms of how practices were run, games scheduled, etc, there wasn't much difference. In fact, there was even one age-group at the club where the A team and B team had the same coach, so there was plenty of joint practices and fluidity across the rosters. From a coaching perspective, the biggest positive I saw from D's B team was that the coach tried to get the whole roster as close to even playing time as possible...of course there were a couple of players that sometimes played the whole game, but no one sat for more than half the game and generally every player on the roster (and their parents) were happy with the playing time.

How about being on a B team at club that is better than the A team at another club?

Sounds like a club looking to develop all their players.

I see so many coaches and clubs sitting these young girls for majority of the game and then wonder why they look lost when they go out on the field- because they have way less experience than the girls that play 40-60 mins. Too many coaches play to win rather than develop because they are either hoping you leave or hoping to replace you when someone better comes along. no one should play less than 20 - 30 mins per game. (Depending on size of roster) you can still do that and keep in key players.

Why should we believe this? Doesn't a Blaze parent post that everything said on here is lies?
