    Small turnout for Rutgers ID

Pretty sad when NJ Blaze has a bigger turnout for tryouts than Rutgers has for a college ID showcase. I guess everyone knows that NJ Blaze is the real pathway. Rutgers should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they need someone like FK to take over.

You mean there is less than 15 kids there?

You are giving Blaze to much credit. Their tryouts consisted of all their current players. I don't think they actually had more than 5 or 6 kids from outside the club show up.

A Blaze pathway is a pathway to, where, exactly? Nobody willing to provide any concrete information where this pathway leads to...

It leads to family fun day in April. Make sure you bring money though, if your hungry or thirsty you have to pay for it. God forbid the club gives out free food and drinks considering how much it cost to play there.

All the Blaze players were put on secondary field while the ECNL kids played on another field. It’s really sad that FK sold his players down a river of no return. Why would a parent subject their daughter to such nonsense .

ID camps are a scam. Just a way to bring money to the school.

It’s because Rutgers mostly recruits from PDA, and the Rutgers coaching staff already knows all the players they are going to recruit.

TDS says 2024 Rutgers recruits 2 from Michigan Hawks, 1 from Portland Thorns, 1 from PA, so just about half the incoming class is not PDA. 2025 Rutgers class lists 2 from Charlotte, 2 from Portland too. Not all PDA.

Yeah, they scouted most of those at ECNL National showcases, not from an ID clinic...

I saw a family of an 8th grader posting that she was there. Absolutely anyone can go to these? What’s the point of doing this in 8th grade?

No reason to go at any age. If a college wants you, they will reach out. No need to pay $200 to practice.

My D went to a showcase as an 8th-grader. It was combine-style (about a dozen schools there), mostly D2 and D3 schools. We knew the person running it, it was cheap, and physically she fit in. It allowed her to get the feel of these with no pressure, and also she came away with a "report card" of sort which a college coach completed for her.

If you have the time and it's not a lot of money, and you won't look out of place physically, there are no downsides to it.

In the end, going to ID Camps was a mixed bag. She went to a few, and one she got traction out (first time they had seen her play) and eventually got an offer out of them. She also went to three other camps as invited by the coach so they could work with her more directly vs. watching her play. Those three, along with the first I mentioned, ended up giving offers. However, the one school she ended up at she never went to the ID Camp as it kept getting cancelled due to weather.

What I liked about the camps wasn't necessarily on the pitch. She picked up a lot of useful tips that colleges look for in players, how to communicate, etc. that she felt was beneficial.

Not sure where you get your information from, but they had enough kids there to do 2 full sized 11v11 games with kids on the bench, so I'd say over 60 kids. Blaze was lucky to have had 5 or 6 new kids at their tryouts.

Blaze had 400+ kids at their tryouts. They are trying to replace all of the current players.
