Must be tough wishing you could be even a “hanger on” at an ECNL club.
and my ECNL merch is
What matters is the training. Ask yourself, is your child developing?
are they being pushed?
the problem with sjeb is the training

Either league is fine and good player play in both. But ECNL is the more respected. If GA was just as good 3 of the best GA clubs would not have left for ECNL this year. No ECNL teams are leaving to go to GA. I think if SJEB could they would.leave GA too.

GA will be gone inside of 3 years. SJEB will merge with yet another club in hopes of staying afloat. However, the mass exodus that just occurred may be the final death blow.

It’s SJEB what do you mean what happened??? Coaches are abusive and horrific on top of the league they play in is losing legitimacy and is clearly not what everyone promoted or thought it would be

All clubs have connections to certain universities, you can look at any club in the area and see that each one has several going to certain schools.
There are over 330 D1 schools with women's soccer, going D1 isn't a flex as most players from NJ end up going somewhat local for college and there isn't that many top D1 programs in the area.
D2 or D3 isn't a disgrace, we do have some top nationally ranked programs in the area.
Parents need to understand that not every player wants the commitment of playing D1. As it was explained to us by several college coaches D1 is basically a job were they can expect 40+ hours a week being dedicated to their sport. D2 is slightly less of a commitment but still a big time suck at between 25-40hrs a week. D3, a player is expected to be a student and the time commitment is generally less at around 15-20hrs a week.
Not every club commit receives a scholarship, some are grey shirted and others listed as preferred walk-ons. This is part of the reason you see so many make a team for a year or 2 and then transfer or drop the sport. They just don't get the scholarship/time they wanted and it becomes a choice between committing time to a sport that they can no longer compete at that level or start working towards their future education plans.
Most people on here haven't been through the process or still believe that play on X team/club/league guarantees that their kid will play at a D1 national contender. Sorry, but even PDA Blue and PFs rosters are mostly filled with players that don't commit to a national contender. I have never seen or heard of a school not looking at someone just because they play in GA or bottom end of ECNL. They may not go to any showcases to see them but will usually ask them to attend an ID camp/showcase hosted at the school or that they plan on attending. Most players start the recruiting process late and don't have an idea what major(s) they are looking for. Most of these coaches have lists a dozen+ players deep that are sophomore's and freshmen as those players reached out early as interested in their program and may have attended an ID or 2 already.
