Everyone is a star ⭐️ in high school & club soccer.

As soon you get to college, your star status evaporates.

    Nobody cares.

The Truth? 50% or more of the recruiting class you come in with won’t graduate with you in 4 years.

    College ⚽️ is not easy!

Amen to that. I went in with 12 in my class. Finished with 3 that actually played all 4 years.

Times and ability to move around are different than back in my college days. What level (d1,d2,d3,etc)? What were some of the reasons for guys leaving? Did some guys quit soccer all together, transfer to another school for more playing time? Just curious?

Men's soccer, mid90s is when I played. D2. 2 guys quit in the 1st week during preseason. Couldn't handle it. Others failed out, homesick, transferred due to lack of playing time. A variety of reasons. Kids today don't realize how hard it is to be an student athlete balancing classes, your chosen sport, the college experience, friends, and a job if you need that. And as you move from D3 up to D1, it only gets harder, especially with travel being more prevalent.

As for the soccer part. HS and Club soccer is a joke compared to what they will experience in college. As the OP said. Everyone is a star in HS and Club. In college, everyone is the same as you. They were all their HS and club teams stars. If you don't develop the work ethic and passion to play the game at a early age, you will struggle big time at the next levels. There are many Academy level players that are super talented, but super lazy and will never have success at the college level.

D just finished her senior season at a top 25–ranked D3 soccer school. 7 players in her recruiting class, all 7 still on the team as seniors…4 starters, 2 coming off the bench with significant minutes, and 1 who only played in about half the games.

I truly like to hear the stories of people's experiences. Everyone's story is different. Everyone's path is different. Like alot of others on here my daughter will be starting college this summer and she is on a D1 team. We will see how it goes for her freshman year but definitely not expecting it to be easy

Does this include people that dropped out, people that took longer than 4 years AND people that finished college in 4 years but no longer play the sport?
