It’s amazing that some people drive over an hour each way for nothing more then soccer practice. These clubs do an amazing job convincing dump parents that they are soo needed. Parents are nuts.

More amazing is how bothered you are by it.

I drive an hour to the beach, passing by several ponds along the way. I may drive an hour for a restaurant and pass a few diners along the way. You get the point.

But there are some really good diners.

Some clubs are passed by because they're not good. It's that simple. Younger years you should try to keep the commute short. Luckily there's more options so focus on good coaching, not leagues. Older years there's fewer options but the kids can handle longer drives.

For us it's not just total minutes but the type of commute. I'd rather few minutes longer of a straight shot/easy drive vs heavy traffic.

Hell no. I’d never do that. But to soccer? Hell yes. Love the game!!

Everyone has a line they won’t cross. For some it’s even bringing a kid at all. My oldest a few years back had a teammate who drove over 2 hours each way. Stop peering through the neighbors hedges and you do you.

Don't underestimate the quality time that you can have with your child driving to and from training.

I do miss it. Sounds corny but even though phone was out there was time dedicated together. We had some legendary lip sync battles for sure. Yeah, some crappy traffic here and there. Still miss it

Aside from the dinner table, the car rises to sports was where I learned the most about my children.
