My take on Coach Ryan Tetro

As a parent who doesn’t know anything better, MFA is great.

But then you explore other options. And you see what CSA has to offer. And pda north . And pda shore. And you realize that all those other clubs actually work on skills at practices. All skills that will make you better with the ball at your feet. And will make you a better soccer player.

Yes scrimmaging and possession game are important. Fast passing is important. But all those other clubs do that as well. They just don’t do it the entire practice every session like MFA shore does.

so as a parent and my player have come to realize that they will get better at a different club. If we stay at MFA… the growth will not be there.

aside from the practices not being up to par with surrounding clubs, RT feeds everyone lies to get them in and to keep them there. I have personally experienced it and so have many other parents. And I’m not talking about only promising ECNL.

he promises his time to your kids team and then does not follow through.
he promises new coaches, and then the same coach is still there.
he promises new facilities and we are still at the same facility.
He promises evaluations and there are none.

the training staff is very limited at MFA shore. I think there are 4-6 coaches and not all are close to being quality coaches. Most are parents. Not parents of a kid on the team but a parent to a kid in the program.

RT needs to do better at MFA shore if he wants to build his program. Because right now, it’s not worth the money when you compare it to other programs in the surrounding area.

Ryan Tetro is an extremely overrated soccer coach. Practices were more like cross country and public speaking. He does not coach; he stands there on his phone and then gives a speech after every practice to get his rocks off. He feels like he is a champion when he simply is a *********. He does nothing to help us prepare for games and does nothing at practice. Many of the girls feel this way. Ryan Tetro does nothing and did I say he’s a *********. Best option in that area is CSA for training. Then PDA shore. And if you can make pda blue then that’s number 1 for long term. Not MFS

PDA shore is great. Just not the best location. I heard they are trying to get ECNL at pda shore just like MFA shore is trying to do. Who will achieve this task first?

Wanted to share my two cents on Ryan Tetro, since my daughter's been with him for a bit. A lot's been said here in these forums, so let's get into it. Ryan seems like a good guy at heart and has never mistreated my daughter or any of her teammates, but he's super insecure and often bends the truth or just lies instead of facing tough situations head-on. He's got an eye for talent, which is a plus. But his practices? They're pretty much mediocre or even less than that. The team does the same stuff – warm-ups, possession drills, a bit of running, and scrimmages, often against mismatched teams in terms of talent or age. He adds in technical skills and strategy sessions sometimes, mostly before big games or playoffs. But he rarely discusses game performances and what needs improvement, so the same issues keep cropping up.

As far as the club, there's an issue with qualified coaches and Ryan coaches way too many teams, which causes issues. We often have multiple age groups training together, or practices are skipped because of other teams' games. He's told us he'd be there for tournament kickoffs, but then he either doesn't show or arrives super late, something he likely knew would happen. It's not a great situation. And if he's not there, he has other coaches or sometime a parent fill in. The parents aren't qualified and the other coaches are really bad.

When it comes to playtime, he definitely plays favorites. Kids with siblings on his other teams often stick around longer than they should or get more game time than they deserve. It's a source of frustration for many players and parents, but options are limited due to the structure of top-level youth soccer in NJ and where we're all live, especially if the kids want to keep playing with their teammates.

This should not be a thread as there is already a very well established thread with over 4,000 posts on it about how RT is an awful coach and person. There are literally thousands of posts on there from the girls and boys side at former and his current club talking about how a) he has zero idea what he's doing and b) he's just a fake, slimy lawyer who is only in this business for his own profit and personal gain. The people on here with contrary experiences are just him posting as different people and the parents that are his lackeys.
