All youth teams that play at a high level should play college Substitute rules..

Yeah pro at eating crap and looking like fat asses at 30 years old. Literally parents who never ever played a sport talking about how to develop a kid.

Only holds the game back. Players need to work through problems on the pitch in real time

Yeah because kids today are so normal they can't even tell if they have junk or a trunk. I blame the 30 yo parents who eat soy exclusively.

100%. The constraints of a professional game do not work in youth soccer.

Not fair to the better kids to put in kids who are mediocre just for the sake of putting them in.

Then the parents of the kids who play should pay the tuition for those kids on the bench. If the kid isn't good enough to play the coach/club shouldn't be taking their money and shouldn't have asked them to join the team.

                  Yes. This rule
has my kid thinking of leaving their team. They aren’t a starter and now their coach won’t take his stars out until 5/10 minutes left in the half. This destroys the non starters playing time. Now they are thinking of going to a weaker team so they don’t sit. Nobody wants to drive 2 hrs to play 15/20 minutes a game.

Better to find out now then after a few more years of it. Nothing wrong with scaling back and going with a level better suited to the player. Kudos.

Yeah. Sitting on the bench sucks. This is supposed to be fun.

There's a level for every player. Hardest part of the game is understanding that not everyone is a superstar .

Funny part is there aren't many of those kids at all. Most are the same lower level and if given opportunity would be performing as well as the kid they are currently sitting behind. Sometimes they are even better-:)

Around 14 and under give or take a year kids who make the team should get decent playing time. Kids are rapidly developing physically, mentally and emotionally. Before and after puberty can be night and day. The star of the team at 12 and be far from the star at 14. I've seen kids cut from a team at 11 or 12 etc and then see that same kid play 1 or 2 years later and dominate. Also seen some "stars" left behind a year or 2 later. Youth leagues should play the kids on the team to develop them and continue to grow the game and interest. If a kid is truly elite they will find their top tier team
