I’m guessing the peak of EDP is U11 because that’s when all the top teams including the ECNL, MLS Next, and GA teams are all there?

EDP league including NL is team driven. Those other leagues are club driven in that the club has to have a team in multiple age groups. Other leagues seem to be opening their doors in their lower divisions to accept more
clubs for different age groups which definitely puts pressure on NL after 14u. Many alphabet leagues out there and growing. It’s a mess.

FOr boys, EDP is good but you already have those other leagues like the NYCFC affiliate league that goes up to when MLSN starts. For girls, EDP is peak at u12 and then at u13 some kids leave for the ecnl and ga teams. The rest follow at about U14-15. SO for about 2 years the talent is spread pretty thin until EDP drops like a rock and ECNL/GA consolidate the 'better' players (or at least the most committed ones).

Have we considered that peak EDP is actually U9?
Town teams joining to wage war on academies they've only heard of because older aged teams at their clubs have lost players to said academy.
Academies having a more local player pull because the allure hasn't hit full tilt yet.
Parent coaches on the same pitch as paid professional coaches. Speedy kids that can't dribble. Technical kids that can't run. Hyper aggressive kids that can't not foul. Half a team playing kickball, the other half playing keep-away.
If we're measuring peak by the purity of youth sports - peak EDP has to be U9.
