    College Recruiting

Can someone please point to a website, article, book, blog that makes sense of soccer college recruiting for girls? I'll really appreciate if people have positive and helpful posts and not the sarcasm and ridicule that is generally reserved for this site. Thanks

College recruitment is a very subjective subject matter. There is no right way because every athlete has a different experience. The spectrum is so large starting from those that are contacted starting tomorrow through the first semester Senior year. There are so many factors that each player is different. I began with talking to the DOC of my daughters club and getting as personal information as possible since the club has a long history of players going on to play in college. I then spoke with the coach about potential colleges as well as attending clinics and camps. Lastly, I reached out to families who have daughters playing in college and got their insight as well. The more knowledge you have the better starting out. You will learn as well once you get started. Choose your advice carefully and see if it fits your situation.

There is no right way because soccer talent is only a partial driver of the process. The better player you are, the more control you can have over the process, but its not solely driven by talent. On the girls side, club decisions are driven by short-term impact, not longer-term potential. It skews the entire process for girls. That said, College soccer offer so many different levels of play that it becomes more about matching what you want from College and then being realistic about what that means for soccer - quality vs PT and $$ - zero to Full. Outside of a handful of schools, the quality of soccer is pretty similar. Who is the best college soccer program in North East?

You just said there is no right way then go on to ask what is the best program in the NE. Really, make up your mind. The best program in the NE is the college that your daughter finds has the checklist of what your daughter wants in a college as a student-athlete, financially & socially. The fit is what matters because the spectrum is so big.

You missed the point entirely which is there is no "right" answer and what you are saying he didn't say is exactly what he said.

The best soccer programs may or may not be the best for your child, but some are clearly and consistently better than others year after year., especially when it comes to girls.

My daughter started the process Thursday. Not too much direction from her club, but speaking to parents and players that have gone thru the process helps a lot. Also try to talk to someone that has a player similar in level of club/ league and ability as your player. But I agree that everyone has a different experience. Good luck.
