Can someone tell me about these 2 amateur leagues? Which one is better? It looks like College girls play here off season. Just wondering if its a good option for my daughter.

USL-W players are paid and has some B or younger teams of NWSL teams while WPSL players are not paid and is made up of college players. WPSL is supposed to start a WPSL Pro division so maybe that will pay players. So basically USL-W would be considered a lower tier pro or semi-pro league while WPSL is an amateur one.

USL-W are not paid. If they were paid then college players in that league would be considered professional and lose their NCAA eligibility. Sumer teams in both leagues tend to be a mixed bag of a range of current and post college players and in some cases high school players. Most of the players are there for the training to prepare for upcoming season. And just like in youth club, the quality coaches and training vary wildly.

You are correct, looks like the Super-Y League slated for 2024 is going to be the Pro league for USL women side.

This is accurate. However, my daughter plays on one when she comes home from college during the summer and they do not allow high school players. I don’t know if any that do.

HS players can play on WPSL and USL-W teams but it is up to the teams to decide. Cedar Stars USL-W team has a 2024 on the roster.
