    Refund after registration ?

    Please advise

d is enrolled for the 23/24 season with the current club's second team,

due to the club requirement, we paid the first payment.

Now she just received offer from another club for their first team that she did tryouts in april, this team has a better coach and the this team is also highly ranked with technically strong players. D prefer to play for this team.

I know the payment already made is non refundalbe, but my question is do the current club will make us pay the remaining payments for the season if we decided to join another team?

    Please provide your feedback.

    Thank you so much.

They may make a concession to join. What team are you going to? Maybe someone has experience with a similar situation?

Not sure what club you are going to and from. Previous experience at STA, they made us pay the whole amount. I changed the credit card and I got a letter threatening litigation for breach of contract. I was happy to take the spot when I committed but things changed early spring season and I wanted to change environment. I didn’t ask for money back, because I knew the commitment I made. I didn’t expect a litigation threat. My new club discounted the amount I had already paid at STA so I only had to pay one club fee for the year.

Based on what was posted they did not get any money back/did not pay anything additional to the club they left. New club gave them credit for the deposit that was lost to the other club so the family wasn't out anything additional (just the new club was).

Stop any future payments and join the better team

Sounds more like they did end up paying the former club once the litigation notice was received but the new club waived their fees. Therefore, only paying only one club fee that year.

Don't fall for pay early to reserve your spot scam. If they want you, they will wait, it's not like they are limiting rosters to 18.

and that right there puts the leverage back on your side.

its so sad. People committed to bad teams early because they were afraid to "lose out". These are clubs that dont even tell you if you make the A/B/C teams. Lucky for me my D wants to stay put, but her team did lose a couple of players they wanted because some other club made an early offer.

I also see people signing up for clubs without even doing their research. Why would you sign up for a U13 team when you see that the club has closed down the U15 teams the last few years do to lack of players?

Good luck to the OP. Hope they can get out. Keeping the deposit seems like a fair thing for the club to do

I am about to cross this same bridge, but the kicker is that I have a younger child that is coming back for the program next year that had offers with a few other clubs, including the one my older kid is moving to. I'm OK losing my deposit, but if they don't work something out with me, its probably a bad business move on their part.

Most clubs are happy to keep your first payment and then let you go after that with no further payment. The reason why is they will just collect the full fee from the new player they offer up your old spot to.

If your kid is worth anything they might put up a fight if not they usually let you go without a problem
