I think you're mistaken in what the Academy is supposed to offer kids. Kids don't automatically develop when you sign them up on a team. The Academy offers a platform for athletes to succeed and show case their talent. The coaches are supposed to teach the players how to play the game better and what makes players valuable to college and professional coaches. Kids develop at different rates and some don't develop at all, you get out of it what you put in to it. At this level you have to earn your playing time so if your kid is on the bench maybe some outside training could help improve their game.

I think you are mistaken. If a Kid is given a GA offer, it should mean that they have the skillset to play at that level. Otherwise do not give them the offer at all. Therefore all kids on the GA team should be given the game experience to develop. But what Kelly did was to not provide that opportunity to everyone. Not in practice and not at games. She will kill your daughters confidence. "be a good bench player" . Across all the age groups, she would only play the starters, maybe sub 1 or 2 players in. Look at the 08s/07s and 06s, every player on the team is talented, does outside training, but Kelly only develops a few players.

Your answer reenforces my point. This is supposed to be competitive soccer not rec. Outside training is for working on individual skills and improving physical fitness. If you think your club team can cover that in 3 training sessions a week then there lies your problem. Guaranteed that the kids getting playing time all do extra outside training. You want your kid to be in a competitive team that is recognized nationally but you don't want to do the work it takes to get there. Also if you want to build a brand you have to break some hearts, not every kids is good enough to compete at the highest level so some kids are better off if they move to the B team where they can get more playing time. You can't have it both ways.
BTW you call her a wrecking ball but this is the best I've seen the 08 team play and my daughter has played against that tem for a long time now.

For the record I'm no the OP and my kid is just fine on the team she plays on at STA, but nonetheless here are the problems. This whole thing is about Kelly not developing kids, so #1, that 08 team is not good because of her, they got like 7 kids from the outside the stepped in as starters and then came from ECNL teams, humm that might help their play don't you think? Second, go watch Kelly's 09 and 10 teams train for a week or two, 80% of what they do in practice is scrimmaging on a third or a quarter of a full sized field. You are obviously too dumb to get the overall point of this and lack the first hand knowledge to really contribute to this post. ;)

I guess your daughter doesn't get a chance to participate in the fight since she's on the bench. Is she one of the girls getting demoted to the B team? That would explain this thread.

Maybe you shouldn't have told the 09s "well you sucked today" when they also lost at Jeff Cup and failed to make it to the final. What is funny about comments like these is really who cares what kid is getting moved or whatever, the whole point to this thing is how horrible Kelly is, so you and other can try and mask that in the "you must not play" or whatever comment, still doesn't change how horrible she is.

Not Kelly but I can see the desperation of a frustrated parent who thinks their kid is better than they are. I've seen this team over the years and have even considered it for my D but went in a different direction. It used to be a town team with a few exceptional players, now it's more competitive and the only way that happens is by improving the talent. This is going to benefit the top players the most and it will raise the level.

Go watch an academy for a professional team and you'll see how much they scrimmage. Before 13 they don't teach tactics it's all about getting the most touches. You obviously don't know anything about youth development.

The rosters are never filled. Teams will always like STA that have bad coaches like Kelly will always increase the roster. The issue with STA is that no one wants to go there. They will come to practice, be given an offer and quickly decline, after seeing how Kelly manages, coaches the team and practices.

However, this past year and beginning of these year I have seen no development from the Kelly practices. All she does is through a ball in the middle of the fields and tell the players to "go fetch". I started the watch practice and can't believe that she never once talked to the team on what they will do at practice, or stop them from time to time. It's only scrimmage and "go fetch".

Not as sad as taking the time to run a smear campaign on a coach. What's an ID player anyway? And yes STA may have changed but all the girls that are still on the team will benefit and the opportunities that will open up would not be there had they continued the way they were going. They did well at the PF showcase and had a very competitive game against the #1 team in GA. The GA is supposed to be competitive and you can't be competitive if you don't take in good players. Some players are not good enough to compete and that's a hard reality.
