    What’s the rush?

Why do some clubs find it so important to move kids to 11v11 at such a young age. Ideally they shouldn’t convert till u14. Let them have fun, what’s the rush? Let them enjoy the game and be kids.

My daughter is u12 and just played her first 11v11 game. She LOVED it. More room to pass. More room to dribble. Outside midfielders to pass to when building out the back, …

Your daughter should be doing that in 9v9 field as well. Just means that the speed and pressure of play in a slightly smaller space is hard for her.

Kids can't have fun playing 11v11?

9v9 becomes unwatchable as the kids get bigger and stronger.with GK punts reaching the other box and shots coming from everywhere with little build up.

Dumb thread. The switch comes at a developmentally appropriate time. Some will struggle a bit, some a lot. They'll learn and grow as players and still have fun.

100% agree. Waiting for U-14 far too long. If you want them to maintain smaller spaces etc… that’s what futsal is for.

You can pass to outside midfielders since there aren’t any, there is no room for older kids. Obviously your kid is not developing well. Good luck.

The modern way to play is a 4-3-3 with 3 central midfielders. Wingbacks and winger/forwards stay wide.

Expanded rosters for 11v11 means more money.

Depends. Some clubs will have more than one 9v9 teams then consolidate at 11v11. They might go from 2 to 1 or 3 to 2. Almost all rosters on any decent team U14+ are going to be stuffed

The switch used to happen at u11. What changed?

I happened so long ago I don't even remember the reasoning behind it. Some clubs will add on 11v11 friends during spring of U11 to help players ramp up to it. Anyway, waiting to U14 makes no sense at all.

Yes punting from the gk does a tremendous job of developing field players. The American way.
