    Combine practice

Should a team practice with all different players from different teams all at once ?

    #2
Yes. See if you can get 15 or 20 teams to all train at once. A few hundred kids on the pitch at the same time is extra productive.

What does this even mean? Can you be specific to what actually happens?

If by that you mean an A&B team or multi age groups within a year or two apart with the same coach and same playing tactics then yes it can be very beneficial. Younger kids are challenged more and really accelerates their growth, while older can benefit on easier opponents. (Note a lot of times the younger teams can be better)

I think it means all the same age group A,B etc all in one practice

If first and second teams are combining every so often to train or teams occasionally mix together to scrimmage for 30 minutes there’s nothing wrong with it. Clubs who don’t do it set a bad example toward club unity and culture. If there’s a massive difference in level then it makes less sense.

It's good to mix things up, have older or stronger players challenging younger/weaker ones, but it should be only very occasionally. A club doing it on a regular basis is lazy

It will obviously be more beneficial to the B team (or less-talented team) more, but if the B team is athletic and not such a far drop-off from the A team, then everyone can benefit from a combined practice and competitive regular scrimmage.

How about all the same age group practicing together

Replace "younger" with "B team" and it's the same thing.

This should be happening every so often. If it’s not, your club is doing it wrong.

This is usually reserved for clubs who have coaches that miss practice on the regular. My kid at PDA practiced with Ken more than her teams coach at the time.

Better than having the practice canceled and then not made up but still not what anyone paid for/was promised.

Players should be developed equally. Some clubs will give the “A” squad an extra training night. Kids develop at different rates, your star at 12 years old may not be your best player at 16 years old. Train the age group together, develop your players, keep rosters fluid.
