    Pre-ECNL is 9v9 or 11v11?

I always thought it was 9v9, but I was looking at some of the rosters and some teams are carrying 18 players. Seems like a lot for 9v9. But others are carrying 15 players, so that seems low for 11v11

    team-number of players
    PDA White-15
    PDA Blue-18
    PDA South-18
    MFA-17
    Penn Fusion-15
    FC Bucks-16
    FC Delco-15

on total global sports they have 18 listed. 2 do NOT have jersey numbers, but they are there. Are the not on the team?

In September, the roster will look completely different and they will have 21-22 players for 11 vs11 games. That is how it's goes in ECNL. Currently, for 9 vs.9 , the 15 is optimal size.

Correct, for some reason they’re still listed. It’s been nearly 2 years.

I know it is optimal for collecting money, but is it really good for all of the players? With 15 and 9v9, if the goalie plays the entire game, that leaves 14 players for 8 spots if everyone shows up (and at this level I am sure they are expected to). Basically 1/2 of a game each. Going to Maryland to watch your kid play for 30 minutes kind of stinks. Dont get me wrong, for the top players on the top teams, it is great (since they will play more the older they get). I just cant understand being a sub on a lower level team (and not even the top subs).

with 100% commitment, I would think that 12-13 would be good for 9v9 (12 if you have a B team to pick up a player if someone gets hurt) and 16-17 for 11v11 (again 16 with B team)

Cold hard reality is rosters on top teams are big. All parents should seriously assess, without rose colored glasses, where their kid fits on a roster. If your player isn't #1-15 then seriously look at going elsewhere where they will play a ton.

15 works well as the top couple players essentially play the whole game (tends to be the striker and centerback on many of these teams) and the other 12 split half the game. There are no subbing rules for 9v9 so usually something like 17/18 mins in each half for the 12 players works well as they can push themselves more especially in spots like midfield and outside backs vs. having to conserve much energy.

Eleven year old kids are not good at pacing themselves so 35 minutes if playing a 70 minute game (or 30 for 60 minute game) is definitely optimal. Please don't tell me how your DD has endless energy and has no issue playing 70 minutes at 100%, it is impossible. I have coached this age for many years and have so many parents tell me their daughter doesn't need breaks.

Our team have 2 goalies, they split the time. Center back plays entire game unless is blowout. 12 other girls split the 70 minutes on 7 spots, plenty time to play in my opinion, especially against better teams where games are very intense. For the most of fall games we had 13-14 girls available. Injuries, being sick, traveling, playing other sports (yes, we have a few players that play individual sports on very high level) makes always less than 15 available. So yes, in my opinion 15 is an optimal number at this stage.
