D1 = Elite
HS star = Elite
ECNL = Elite
Watch a few games and more often than not you scratch your head.

Definition as well as the subjectivity of what makes an elite athlete is how they stand out and catch your attention. I can watch a U16-18 match and make a determination of a stand out player quite easily. There is no formula or box to check off. College coaches know exactly the type of players they want over all on the team and positionally.
