You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The kids handle the communication all themselves. Its very hard and no one thinks their kid is Carli Llyod. Kids have coaches talking to them and then drop them - its not an easy process. Some will come just as your kid hits the bench and miss your kid playing so they get dropped. Others come to your kid and they wind up liking another player on the team that wasn't even interested. Bottom line is its a difficult process because every coach has a very specific need and either your kid fits that need/hole or they don't - its hard to know what they are looking for but a lot of the time its not the top player at all. Plus they need really good grades if they want top academic programs - they wont even consider them if not.

Sounds like someone escaped their rubber room. Do you need a hug?

Remember scores from these events are misleading. My kids team had players on field for twice as much time as they usually get in regular league games and many starters who only played ~50%. It is a showcase and if your coach is going there to win at all costs and leave players on the bench, you should really be thinking about what their priorities are.

College coaches always have identifiable gear on. Generally people know not to be annoying, although I am sure occasionally it happens.

General showcase question- for out of state showcases (air travel) when does a coach tell you which player(s) won't be able to dress for the games (due to more than 18 traveling)?

Wow, what a list that is, not an overly impressive list.

We noticed most were identifiable, with a couple incognito. There were 19 at my daughters first game and maybe 10 at the second game next day. One thing I notice though is that there were several that showed up that weren't on the "coaches list" site.

I think the list was made up- but there were a few coaches there. It was also super cold so hard to tell what they were wearing.

My son played for Coastal Carolina. You are idiot. This is not the way his process went at all. You really shouldn’t be talking if you or think this is how it works.

Yeah seems like 06 was the main draw. Any maybe also 07. My daughter is 04/05 and talking with parent on the other team were playing we concluded there were just 4 that were not signed for various reasons, injury recovery, etc. So more like an exhibition than a showcase.

Except the poster is pretty spot on. Players have to cast a wide net because there's just no telling how it will all play out. Sure the studs can write their own ticket. But the more typical college player has to put in the work to find good target soccer and academic schools, reach out to them, impress the coach on the field (if the coach even shows up), follow up etc. Any semi decent program will have dozens of players wanting to play there.

As for academic if you're not in a school's acceptable admissions range you need to be a top pick for the coach. Coaches only get so many tips. They're not going to use one for player #7. Players with good grades have far more options than those that don't.
