What do you feel the fallout from that is currently? Why aren't there more younger players in line since the USA is doing such a great job? Can Horan even play a full 90 in todays game? She is sucking wind after 20 minutes and isn't even a prototypical middie. We need some young blood to inject some life into this group.
there is a 17 yr old on the team. how much younger do you want? the fall out is the same women get paid a lot more money !!

skill and athletic are very generic terms. its become fashionable to pigeon hole players as one or the other. every player is a combination of both and different skills are required for different roles. the US system from youth through pro makes it very difficult to build and develop players to fit a complex strategy

It is unbelievable the amount of headers in these alleged high level teams. Trapping a ball seems to be a lost art; and the header 50/50 ball becomes contagious. Awful.

Did you just wake up from 2019? There should be tons of young talent and you point out a single player-The CBA that prohibited new players ran through 2021 so keep up or butt out.

Only time will time on the lot more pay part too since the women already made more than the men under the old CBA.

I just know when I watch girls play the skill level compared to the boys is markedly poorer. And I am just talking basic/basics nothing fancy at all. First touch/why bother as I can out muscle you either way. Positioning/soccer IQ, why bother I have plenty of recovery speed to cover up being out of position. Passing to feet, why bother I just play it as far as I can upfield to another player just as big and fast so she can run it down and proceed to cross it into the side of the net every single time.

It is hard but it also isn't rocket science. The USWNT seems to be missing several things at the moment regardless.

They physical dominance seems to have taken a hit and they aren't making up for it in the skills category.

how can you be physically dominant in your mid 30s? its a choice. Dont compare it to boys, they dont play vs each other and the womens game is less mature. Some teams do not play that way. FSU,UVA, Stanford spring to mind

the CBA did not prohibit anything. It just made it expensive to do. the more pay part is a fact. the same women are making more now than they did before from making the WNT. I dont think the men are relevant in this conversation

Not fact if pay is now based on actual participation and revenue. Where does the NWSL $ come from?

Maybe some of those guaranteed positions get replaced now so will those castoffs be making more? They got paid to not even play before. Is that part of the new agreement?

You ever hear of cost prohibitive and if you are a younger player you want to be part of that older generation/cabal that negotiated that CBA for their own benefit?

Women's soccer is like bitcoin. Where is the tangible monetary value?

It is a bad college and club habit that gets praised instead of corrected; using one's head instead of their more reliable feet. Many players can not trap a soccer ball. A simple skill actually.
