Why is this a hard concept, just watch professional soccer. It's about decision-making and long balls and playing direct is not a bad thing. If executed correctly, it's an advantage or even a tactical choice for some teams against their opposition's formation/strategy.

Most people on here have little soccer knowledge, they just regurgitate certain catch phrases they hear. There is no one way to play soccer. When people say you should not kick and run, that means nothing. You are always kicking and running in soccer!! Yes, having your defenders just kick as far as they can every time makes no sense, but sometime play a long ball to a teammate or to open space where a teammate can get there before the defender is absolutely the right move. Other times that space is consistently taken away and you need smaller passes to get the ball upfield.

Why are you making it out like other posters aren't commenting about playing direct. The point is that is the only way some teams play. Teams that can pass and move can also if called for play longer balls/more direct. Teams that just play physical/direct are good at what other tacticts?

And where is that posted Mr./Mrs. regurgitate? You also missed the points being made. Teams that only play direct can only play direct. That doesn't work all the time. Teams that can play soccer can play multiple ways which enhances the odds of winning/success.

When people talk about kick and run- they mean exactly that. Kick the ball to no one or out of bounds and run. Playing direct with long balls perfectly placed is not what anyone means when they say kick and run. You can tell the difference immediately - defender gets ball doesn’t look up and kicks it randomly and forward runs around. This is pretty common in youth soccer around our state.

Yes, 100% correct. It is a very effective style that can win you games at 2010. But, when your daughter is replaced in 2 or 3 years and relegated to PDA White, please don’t be surprised or wonder why? It happens all the time at PDA. They don’t develop, simply replace. Take as old as time.

Or the GK punts it to either no one or the opponent

These 2010 teams aren’t even the best in the area.

Match Fit is definitely among the best in the area.
