Yes. They haven’t been around bc of Covid and were way more selective in the past when my older kid was playing. Now you see big numbers of kids attending. Issue is they keep sending same kids who don’t make the next level. It becomes a watered down process.

There really isn't any quid pro quo that a club can offer a US Scout so it comes down to not much more than personal relationships and trust in a club coach. But, make no mistake, club coaches and clubs want kids invited for marketing purposes. Some club coaches are better at recommending players because they know what the scouts are looking for in players and positions and any prior success in recommendations gives the club coach a good rolodex of comps that they can identify in players.

Scouts will also provide feedback to club coaches about kids they came and watched who are on the bubble. It is then up to the coach to kind of figure out a way to improve any shortcomings if they want the the player to get an invite.
Here’s some insight from another thread on how this broken system works

Jesh no one is ever happy. The opposite is to not look at enough kids and potentially miss some. I'd rather there be more kids getting a look than fewer. If they don't pan out then so be it.

Is it working? From what we are seeing it’s not. Bc the reliance is on a biased club coach.

Exactly. The process starts with a coaches recommendation. The same people everyone on this board bitches about.

Multiple coaches make the selections. Your kid wasn't chosen for a reason.

No the OP is right the club coach recommends which player/s get invited to the camp then the YNT coaches choose from that pot who they invite back.

It begins with 1 coach. The key holder.

Most coaches have no idea what a young player will eventually turn into. They are only looking at the here and now and more than half the time, its about size, speed, for the club or some form of nepotism. Further, you will find that clubs that collect players,(usually anothers clubs best player) such as PDA blue or Worldclass are restricted in how many players they can send to any camp, so that other clubs may be represented as well. The problem is that - sometimes copa’s best player is not better than Blue’s or Worldclass’s 8th player. But the process serves it purpose, The future national team type of players are so few, most players are at the camps for nothing more than a warm body, so that the scouts can try and single out true talent. You need 22 to play on the regional pitch to find 1 or 2 players that move on to the next level of play

Very true, parents are complaining over their kid being a warm body. Pretty funny

The region has very few NT level players. It's just reality. The lack of players on NT teams isn't because of one coach or club.

So coaches and club don’t contribute to the lack of players? Not sure I u understand.

Not true about the number of players being restricted by high level clubs. I was told one club sent sent 6 and another 5.

PDA Blue had 5 I assume that STA also had multiple players since their coaches are the ones picking the kids for the camps.
