You can’t win on an elite level with outside distractions. This is a known fact. It is also a known fact that the uswnt is full of outside distractions the past couple of years.

[QUOTE=Was PDA responsible for the USWNT 20 year run of being the best in the world? NO.
Yes it is, you are ranked as one of the best clubs in country. Are you producing players that are going on international scene and beat Germans, Dutch, Swedes, Englishwoman or are you producing players that are going to beat MFA, PF and Bethesda? You are one of the best in county, you are responsible for supplying best players in to our national team. If not, the club underachieving, the kids are not developed properly and coaches are underperforming.

NOBODY produces world class players. Some world class players may have played for PDA bc they are the best option in the area. So yes PDA is simply trying to beat their regional competition and move forward in the ECNL playoffs and get kids into college. It’s the USWNT’s responsibility to identify the types of players it needs to win. It has nothing to so with ANY ECNL club.

The US sucks at identifying high potential talent
The US sucks at developing high potential talent
USSF also sucks at just about everything they do

Yes from a talent perspective. We can’t even get health care right, how can we make soccer free, unless Elon Musk buys US Soccer. Send him a tweet!

These situations are much more complex than you are making it out to seem. After a long fought game that forces a shootout, the coaching staff must quickly assess who is in the right mental state to take the pressure of the shootout. Did she get hurt during the game? Did she score during the match? Did she miss the game winner? Did she not make the last pass? Is the team in-fighting? When the coach looks into their eyes, do they look confident? etc etc etc No one wants to be the one that misses the penalty that knocks your team out of the world cup. These are young(er) players and are still developing the mental side of the game. Having said all that, the US should have won that game.
