    agree,
their play is generally not at an elite level, they need more soccer smarts, insightful play, ball control, technical skill, etc. to start scratching the surface of elite play, that comes from years of good developmental play at younger ages, not from just athleticism and pushing for wins/recruiting at younger ages. Don't think the current club setups like PDA provide much of that which is needed, maybe in some isolated cases.

what is elite level play? the object of the club and college game is to win as many times as possible. Development to what end? you could level exactly the same argument a the NWSL and the USWNT. The endgame here is to go to College and get a job. Just because a fraction of those who enter the system go pro does not justify changing the system for the majority. PDA are providing exactly what is needed.

So says another anonymous amateur TS person. The beat goes on and on with their negativity. But that’s alright. Every year these same person (s) attack PDA and yet every year they are named as one of the top ECNL Clubs in the country. Every year Rutgers gets the same negativity even when they make a final four. Yet, they get hundreds of emails before ECNL College showcases and thousands through out the year inquiring about their program. You can define elite however you want and how it serves your purpose. The point being whatever you have to say now or in the future about club and university has no weight with anyone. Your just an anonymous troll.

So says the anonymous RU cheerleader who just can't accept the school isn't truly elite until it finishes top 15 fairly consistently

PDA provides what the RU coach needs - which is convenient being a PDA coach. Would they be as successful if they didn't have a club tailoring players to RU's needs?

You’re just too dumb to realize that “elite” is in the eyes of the beholder. Like I said RU receive hundreds of inquiries for ECNL college showcase events. PDA gets thousands of applications from clubs across the country including Canada and Europe for their spring showcase tournaments. RU gets hundreds of emails from players inquiring about Rutgers camps and clinics. Clearly, everyone has their own opinion about the program. Who cares that you say it’s not elite, the numbers don’t back you up or help your argument.

I am not the guy you are going back and fourth with but I agree with him that Rutgers is not really Elite. Is Rutgers Good? yes. Are they a good option for my kid? yes, I want her to go there. But are they truly Elite? I don't think so.

You could argue that Brown were as successful this year and they dont have a Club tailoring players.for them. My 2c is that difference making players are rare and most teams do not have any. the talent gap between a Brown and RU is actually narrow. Most of the CLubs that are successful across the USA do it but altering the competitive balance via recruiting, not developing "better" players. Depth wins at Club level. Games are won when the bottom of the roster is exposed.

Getting applications for the Spring showcase is because of what it is; a college showcase. Has little to do with pda other than hosting. Jeff cup used to get those numbers too.

Many colleges get very good camp and clinic numbers and emails to watch players. There are hundreds of thousands of players who want to play college soccer. This is not unique to RU.

Exactly. Which is why the big clubs like pda that just have large rosters did not like the GDA which mandated everyone start and limited subs.

Partly true. That and the lack of control over YNT spots, rules and costs. College soccer was, and to some degree, still is built on depth. The WNT same. oe reason the women are more succesful than the men. Depth. For years, the USSF have been trying to convince the public that its quality.

the only thing the RU program is elite in is making money for the coaching staff and the club they work for
