PDA was humiliated tonight. Kick and run play of RU was embarrasing. Penn State looked like they were playing Rutgers Newark, not MO's 'quality' somerset squad.

Yep Rutgers looked out of sync tonight... you take your losses and move on to the next game. It's a long season.

As long as PDA controls the market in NJ, it is really bad. There is no competition and they can do whatever they want to do.
PDA soccer is in general recruiting the best players and development is minimal. Then the DOC of PDA is head coach of Rutgers. Shady..

exactly the issue, no player development at PDA just recruiting. This does not prepare players to play at a higher level vs good teams, that's why they always falter vs real competition.
and since Rutgers is PDA U, it shows every time a decent team can play thru their kick and run style

Rutgers has had success and will probably continue because of the athletic talent on the field. When matches of significant boil down to game tactics and coaching MO has and always will fail. He’s simply not that good. He’s never had a group exceed expectation and he can’t get to the finish in years he has a special group. These are the scenarios where great coaches show themselves. Im not an RU but will always applaud the girls. They are quality. Their coach in the other hand….

I’m no PDA fan boy but I would say Rutgers plays out of the back and through the middle quite nicely. They have gone on a nice run getting scoring chances from multiple players. You could tell they were off yesterday. was it the step up in competition? , the rain and wet ground that was not conducive to their passing game? Who knows. They lost. Long season ahead of them and they will have many chances to show who they are. In the end, their record will speak for them. Last year they went to the final 4. An amazing feat that showed they were ready for prime time. They did it on the backs of two significant scorers. This year those scorers are gone. How good will they be, well as I said, we will know by the end of the season. I’m rooting for them.

what is getting to the finish? Winning the NCAA tournament is a lottery. depends so much on seeding and who you end up playing where. RU are a good solid team year in year out. They are not in the elite conversation for me, but they are in the next tier.

I agree, they are were a lot of teams get to just before making the next team to elite. Will they get there- some do- some don’t. This is a pivotal season for the team.

Dont confuse people pushing back at hyperbole with RU/PDA hate. in order for RU to take the next step, they need to be able to keep the very best players in NJ. Thats is almost impossible given the alternatives on offer. the assumption that RU are doing that is false.

They regularly get the top recruits from the top academy in the country so that alone helps RU be one of the best. They should have won a few nattys by now. What’s holding them back?

Not only do they get some of the top recruits, MO knows these players well because he sees them day in and day out, He gets the undiscovered gems that have not peaked. To me this is a tremendous recruiting advantage. Most coaches do not have the opportunity to pick out the undervalued gems. They rely on National team status or watching a player for a number of games and a camp or two. You couple that advantage with players picked up from the transfer portal, It keeps RU in the game.
