HS coaches who want to push their top players as "all americans" or award winners locally love to do this. Especially at private schools where kids pay tuition. HS coach pretends to have any impact at all on college recruitment in order to help future recruiting. Everyone knows HS has no bearing on college but people still get sucked in. Top ECNL kids should not be sent out to bag 6 goals against lowly town HS teams.

They brag about winning with these high scores meanwhile they play crap competition.

There’s been other comments made on other threads in the past. It happens every season when we hear about kids from CBA or SHP

Some would consider being allowed to score 6 goals in one game itself an act of bravado/bragging.

What is the goal in that? Name in paper? Scoring title? All State team?

If I were a HS coach I would rather my studs bring home a state title than pile up meaningless stats against less than optimum competition.

Where were these superstars in the big games?

HS soccer is 90% athletes (good ones, fast, very big, strong) that are average at soccer at best - 10% actual soccer players. You have maybe 10% of a team from club (some schools more than others - like RP or Westfield) but all depends on the year which kids are there etc. What is interesting is that in many of the dialogues about being big, fast, strong as the benchmark for success -- when you see HS soccer you realize that it means absolutely nothing.

HS soccer is wonderful if you are a player or parent. The club coach losers who are here can F off.

Honest question, coaches/schools don't have control over where their teams are placed correct? Isn't group placement based on size of the school, and division placement based on performance from previous season? I see people saying that teams are playing lower level teams but I don't think they have a choice on which teams they are placed with. So if what I said previously is true, where does all the hate come from?

Spot on. Back in the GDA days when girls were not allowed to play HS the coaches totally trashed HS soccer like it was the worst thing in the world. As soon as GDA imploded all of the sudden the same coaches did not care so much.

It’s less work for the club coaches - they get a break in the fall. HS soccer is great for confidence and fitness for club players. My kid is always in the best shape during the fall from HS soccer bc of all the running and other **** they make them do.

Yes, confidence for beating lesser players, more fitness from running all over and not playing position. Sounds great way to form bad habits

True there is that part as well. Corrections need to be made but from our experience it hasn’t formed any habits.

F your bad habits. Let the kids have fun. HS is freedom from the grind and you see more joy in the players than in 9 months of the club season.

I concur. I used to be a snob about HS soccer but now that my daughter is playing she's actually having more fun than in her club and the level in her team pretty good so it's a win win.

So much truth in this post. Club soccer has gotten out of control. The high school experience is priceless.
