1) how often the GK specific training? You want two days per week + team practices
2) are GKs broken into different age groups? Younger ones shouldn't be with older ones
3) do the GK trainers come and watch games and give feedback? This is important for learning as the field coach will rarely know important details about the position
4) what are the trainer's qualifications/experience?
5) how will playing time be split with ther other GK? 50/50 each game with rotating starts? Or r one game on, one game off. Never, ever take a spot where one GK is going to always be the starter all the time. It has to be 50-50 in some form
Even with the above lots of GKs end up doing extra training on top of that, especially during the summer. It's a spot where families have to shell out more for privates than filed players usually do
No matter what program you go to Gk will always need supplemental. Club trainers are spread thin. Even the great ones can’t give each player the attention they need.
Training is necessary. Without training player will not perform better in soccer or sports games like Cricket, Tenis etc. It is my opinion training encourage the stamina and enthusiasm.
How is this training compared to other clubs?
Should D continue with private trainer or will the GK training offered be enough?
Depends on who your private training is with. Mostly though they GK training at PDA South is poor as is every other training at PDA South. The plus side is that as a GK you will get A LOT of work in but on the bad side you won't ever win and your stats will be poor due to the rest of the team allowing 10x more shots. Not sure who Real uses but SJEB goes through TKI which can include former USWNT GK Jill Loyden. She may have been the 3rd keeper behind Hope Solo but at least she was good enough to be a member of the team and play professionally.
The GK coach at PDA South is inadequate. Ask around the state and other clubs and not many people have ever heard of him. His training sessions are not intense, and sub-part vs many of the other keeper trainers in the state. He seems to like to talk more than he likes to coach his keepers.
