Right but this year and they next 3 or so will be odd. You could have kids that played any combination of affiliations like ECNL, DA, GAL, USYS, DPL, NPL over their career and each of those affiliations will claim the kid as their own. It's a slippery slope. If a kid plays U-8 through U-17 at a USYS club then moves to ECNL or GAL for U-18, is she really an ECNL or GAL player? It's going to be tough to really get an idea on anything for a while. ECNL has the largest footprint and is the most established. No one should argue that. Competition is key, though. A strong ECNL and a strong GAL benefits everyone. Both leagues have iffy clubs in them, but hopefully it gets better and builds stronger players in the long run

D’s ECRL team took on a GK at U17, and that GK eventually ended up at a top 5 D3 team.. if you ask the parents, they credit her old club and GK coaches with her development, but also says that she never would have gotten that commitment just playing for her EDP team, and that the exposure she got at Jeff Cup and PDA Showcase opened a ton of doors for her. So who gets the credit?

We know quite a few top players that only went to PDA for last two years before college- got the exposure and carried on. PDA took the credit obviously, but so did their HS, trainers, ODP teams and pretty much everyone. Which for the kids was really a big ego boost. But then unfortunately they got to college and everyone was the best so things changed pretty fast.

U14 top div 2 winners ECNL. U13 top div 2 winners ECNL. U12 top div 2 winners one ECRL and one ECNL.

GA nowhere to be found. Even ECRL won one.

No wonder over 70% of major D1 commits come from ECNL.
