Absolutely! Take a look at edp brackets and you'll see that wall,ocean,etc, are same bracket or better than csa white teams in many instances especially young age groups. Why waste money?

Aren't Wall and CSA very similar priced? My son has a friend that plays on a younger ages Wall team and it costs over 2k there and they only train 2x a week vs 3x a week at CSA.

Well said! For example local area town teams like Wall, Ocean etc are just as good as CSA, PDA Shore etc.

Totally! The Wall teams are consistently better than the CSA GA teams at several age groups. Not bad for a volunteer run town club.

Best thing to do is show up at a few practices or observe games/ coach when they don't know you're coming. I've gone to a few tryout practices and coach literally had them passing an hour straight for 4 straight sessions. My kid got bored of it, no variation , zero fun, whatsoever. No other skills were being tested, and although passing and receiving is important, at a young age they need to work on different skill sets so we moved on.

Agreed and this weekend proved that 100%. At least Wall scored a goal against PDA and only lost by 3. CSA lost by a combined 15-0 across both 05 and 06 age groups. Very disappointing.

The landscape has become a bit murky, but still some great choices in the shore area. PDA Shore seems like an obvious option based on track record, but does anyone have feedback on clubs like Wall, MFA Shore, NJ Blaze, CSA or others? They seem quite evenly matched once you take PDA Shore out of the mix.

CSA probably best option. NJ Blaze only has a handful of teams as they are new. PDA Shore and Match Fit are horribly overpriced and their top players will leave for the home based teams.

Many academy’s are non for profit.

They lost 6-0 vs PDA 06 and 9-0 vs PDA 05. That’s the 15-0 combined score, so no “running up” the score.

Was this CSAs B teams perhaps? That would explain the lopsided score lines.
