They're still the exception to the rule. Most soccer parents are pretty normal. Don't use Talking Soccer as a proxy lol

That’s it in a nutshell, parents thinking their Sally is the next big thing jumping in between clubs like there is no tomorrow. ZERO loyalty.

Typical, some leave great town clubs like Wall, Toms River etc to go to CSA, PDA Shore etc and they find out the training and level of play is actually lower

Then the obvious question is, “why did they leave these town teams?” Do you know why?

Sales pitch of greener pastures and college scholarships perhaps?????? Apparently according to the NCAA only 1-2% of HS age players go on to play D1….pretty sobering statistic.

Hardly, plus the level of competitive play is light years tougher. Town programs have their place but some players want and need something more challenging. As kids get older many Town programs fall apart as those stronger players leave for club soccer.

I do agree there is a group of players going to mediocre clubs that would be better served staying with Town programs. But let's also not forget not all of them are very good either. Years ago players would have stayed but now there's a club or league for everyone who can write a check!

As posted above some players should move up. They want a need a much bigger challenge. They will quickly hit a ceiling in a Town program. Some others want to be doing what their friends are doing even of they're not as good. With so many clubs out there they can find a team and feel special too

It should noted that while very few HS players will play in college, in the top leagues like MLS or ECNL nearly every player will. B leagues will see a decent number playing, usually at mid to lower level college programs. All depends

Crazy how low the %s are. If this info was actually openly shared clubs like CSA, PSA etc would totally lose their sales pitch.

That information is out there for anyone to find. So are club placement lists and the ability to track how former club players fare in college. More importantly clubs push college exposure, not full ride scholarships. In fact most walk families through the harsh realities of recruiting.

As for the stats, that's for all high school players not club players. Many high schools don't even have many club players let alone any that will play in college. But on club teams they higher up you go on the pyramid thr more players will play in college, with top teams landing 99% on college rosters. The clubs and leagues provide the exposure, but the players have to put in a lot not work to actually get recruited.

Any family that doesn't do their homework and thinks free ride offers will just drop on their door step are the fools.

Sorry but Wall’s older age group teams are on par if not better than CSAs for example. And they also play a nice brand of soccer out of the back build up. So why not save tons of $$ and stay local too? Smart choices people, smart choices.

Op here and I wasn't referring to any one club or town, just generalities. Also some town programs are terrible with daddy coaches that don't know their azz from a hole-in-the ground. Everyone kid has a different set of interests and options available to them.

Agree stay away from overinflated clubs and stay with solid local town option, at least the volunteers are not in it for the $$$$$.

Some people don't have good town options
Some "volunteers" are in it to push their kids along
