There's delusional parents everywhere. How clubs manage them is what matters. Many wind up club hopping almost every year chasing something that doesn't exist. Most often their kids are miserable and burn out.

Some club parents hop clubs because most coaches are just out for themselves. Girls burn out because they begin to hate playing soccer when coaches suck the fun aspect of the game from them.

Speaking of delusional ^. While some coaches are bad, using them as a universal excuse for club hopping is lazy - probably like your kid is lazy

Universal would imply that I said all. However, I clearly wrote "most." Thanks for coming to my Ted talk on logical reasoning. Have a nice day.

I'd say parents not grasping reality drives a good 2/3rds of club hoping. And by club hoping I mean a new club every 1-2 years, not the occasional moves for a better fit or club falling apart kind of move. If you're at a good club you may get a clunker of a coach one year but a good one others because they generally have a good staff. Most times if a kid isn't progressing it isn't because the coach is "unfair" or "doesn't see Brandon's genius" but the kid just isn't as good as the parents think.

Note: not all clubs are good. That is a good reason to move. But I agree painting coaches as all being out for themselves isn't a fair generalization. They get paid crap and are tremendous pressure from their employers to produce winning results above all else.

Are you a coach? I thought winning doesn't matter? According to PDA's MO winning is not important at a showcase or when they lose. Its only important when they win.

Good points and at what point are these kids training to be successful? All we hear is its all about development but develop into what a loser? Of course at the younger ages it is about development but at some point it has to be combined with winning. It isn't a switch you can turn on and off like PDA fan boys would like everyone to believe. They only try and win league games sounds stupid. Own it all or don't own any of it.

It’s all smoke and mirrors for PDA. They cover the loses so well. Shout the wins and college acceptances over and over.

Not what it once was. But seems that parents still buy into it. Not sure why they can’t see it.

Agree it’s been disappointing. Not sure why they are not able to compete like they once did. Perhaps others have gotten more creative.

My oh my the hate runs deep. If you're not at the club, why do you care? Because you're probably a competitor not a parent. If you're at the club and aren't happy then leave.

Not OP but parent At the club for years and see the decline. Last showcase was an embarrassment. Seems late to change with older although makes me think it may be worth the effort and short term discomfort.

Yes people do not like clubs and coaches that lie to their families, don’t deliver on what was promised and don’t own their loses and make changes. But they love cashing the checks!

Is it lies from a coach or parents using selective listening? Did a coach promise you a loss free season plus tournament glory?

More like disgust that adults continue to exploit children for financial gain. If it was just about soccer none of this nonsense would exist. And folks care because it impacts girls soccer in general no matter how hard these "top clubs" try and deflect.
