Anyone have any info / experience with the NJ Young Olympians program? Quality of play? Location for the Northern training?

I had a daughter and son who have both been through the YO program. Honestly, if you look at it as some additional training sessions and the opportunity to meet other players from different clubs, you won't be disappointed. If you look at it as anything else (including a path to ODP/YNT) then you'll be disappointed.

Terrific programme worth checking out as a supplement to training. Go for your dreams!

It’s not expensive so not really a waste of money. But it’s more of side little training thing. If you have time, willing to drive then cannot hurt. The coaches are very kind, because they are representing ODP they can’t act like *******s like many others.

ODP. The name is a complete joke. You CANNOT develop olympians. They are born with talent most of us have never even seen on a soccer field. They would be easily spotted by the most novice spectators while playing travel soccer. Would dominate every game like a man amongst boys.

This is simply just not true. Almost The entire USWNT/Olympic team over the past 15 years went through ODP. Did they develop them? Not alone. Not one thing develops a player it’s the combination of everything. Clubs take credit, HS, trainers— but it’s a combination of all with one mentor or coach being the backbone.

If you waste 2 dollars, you're still wasting money. The coaches set up a few cones and have the kids dribble around, and they talk to each other the whole time. Set up a few cones in your backyard and have the kids dribble around for an hour and save yourself the time and money.

Waste of time, crappy training. You are better off supplementing with privates. It’s beyond basic.

Yeah because ages ago ODP was a much bigger factor for talent identification. Now it's all done through ECNL, MLS etc. Nor does participation make it meaningful. It's just a shell of its former self in terms of player and coach quality

Young Olympian program is well coached, inexpensive, and fun. I believe they have an age limit maybe 9-10 yr olds.

No ODP didn’t develop any of them. It’s simply a talent locator.
