Not the poster and you are right many don't last. It's the ugly reality clubs don't want you to know about. Reasons run the gambit:

-Frustration over lack of playing time
    -Don't like the school
-Don't get along with staff or teammates
-New coach doesn't like you or vice versa
    -Perpetual injuries
    -Burnout
-Struggling academically and want to focus
-Generally want to focus on career, next life chapter.

At some point soccer goes away.

I am the original poster, she quit because of injuries. Two serious knee injuries. She also went into a very demanding major that required much more of her time. She chose a school that was not on her original list because she thought it was a reach academically. But when they came calling, the school quickly moved to the top of her list. She gave up scholarship but we were fortunate enough to have a need based package that was increased to make up for athletic dollars lost. It was worked out.

Thanks for sharing. Makes sense. Glad to hear she went for the reach academically I'm sure will be very successful. Sorry about the knee injuries - how did they happen? I keep hearing over and over that these kids just cannot recover from these injuries (especially knees and back/hips) no matter how hard they try - but its better to be able to walk for the rest of your life than play 2 years of soccer for nothing.

By far the biggest problem that leads to all the others is picking a college based on soccer first, academics second. My daughter was fortunate to talk with a few colleges that were all interested in her. I held steadfast and told her not to “dummy herself” for soccer. The college she finally chose was based on the college she would be happiest if she was injured and couldn’t play again. So many pick a college mainly for the soccer component which leads to most of the other reasons you mentioned. The transfer portal is not for 99% of the college players.

Op here and many will tell you "Don't go if you can't imagine yourself there without the (fill in the blank) sport." In the end getting a degree and finding a career path is easy matters. None of those kids are going pro, an education lasts a lifetime

There are about 4-5 D1 schools attending one would recognize. But nothing compared to GA or ECNL events. Looks more like a USYS showcase collection.
Looks like 40 or so. That's way more than I thought a RL event would pull- especially same weekend as ECNL.

Definitely a step below GA and ECNL but very similar to the USYS- https://www.usysnationalleague.com/a...ns_overall.pdf

So, how do colleges that are listed on both with the same coaches attending manager to get to both? The RL is the 7-9th while ECNL is 8-10th. For that matter did any teams from either NA or NE even get to fly out?

You do realize assistant coaches are actively involved in the recruiting process And that programs have multiple assistants? In fact assistants do a lot of the pre-screening for the head coach. At a big event, or in this case two, they divy up the players on their list to see as many as possible in a short amount of time.

The two leagues also attract different kinds of programs and many will pick one or the other, not both

Could do Jan 7-8 at RL and Jan 9-10 at NL. Or 1 day at one and 3 days at the other depending on the level of player you're looking at (or the number of players from RL vs. NL that reached out to you), etc.

Looks like some teams from NA and NE...FC Bucks, FC Delco, Penn Fusion, FC Stars, WCFC, EMSC, Scorpions, FSA. PDA, Maryland United across the various age groups.

Give it up for the 900 college coaches that attended #ECNLFL.
