No experience with either club besides D playing against both, why not just attend some practices if possible and watch a game or two, see which seems better?

Top talent in that region play for SJEB.

Ask to attend a few practices at both and go see games if possible. Watch the skill level of other players and if your player can keep up. Watch how the coach interacts with players. If you can watch games observe the competitive level. ECNL as a league is stronger than GAL, but at the club and team level there's lots of overlap. Pick the best fit for your player and the best coaching and worry less about the patch

Well the ECNL is a tougher league. The competition is very good so kudos to PDA South for being competitive in it. Playing the best only makes your better you would hope in the long run. I think it’s safe to say it’s better league/conference then the Mid Atlantic/EDP.
In November sjeb 07 ga (0) vs world class 07 ecnl
(8) In November pda south (1) vs world class 07 ECNL (1).
Competition difference is telling and that’s just (1) score.
Pda south ECNL 08 may be last in ECNL league but most recently had some good results against GA/EDP teams, so the tough schedule is working. Last spring matchfit ECNL 08 beat SJEB 08 2-0 and this Fall PDA south beat matchfit 08 2-1. It’s hard for SJEB parents to understand that they just aren’t that good. The environment is actually trash and people leave.

But anyway, the OP is asking about 09s not 08s so....
09 SJEB are coached by JT who is a staple at SJEB and undefeated in GA so GA Nationals will be a thing for them for several years to come. The GA team has their own futsal teams that compete in the major futsal tournaments over winter. Will allow GA players to play on outside clubs.
09 South ECNL replaced the coach from last year, the new coach quit and are now on the 3rd coach since May and in dead last. Younger teams shut down in Dec and have limited practices during the winter. Not allowed to play on a second team or guest play as per ECNL rules which is loosely enforced depending on politics.
If you are serious then you need to go to each practice for a few weeks, not the one or two some may give you, to see how your kid fits into the plans. Look at roster sizes as each can only suit 18 per game and remember for next year that the 09s fall under the ECNL rule that they can play 2 trap players (players still in 8th grade while the rest of the team plays HS) which they will do which will take 2 spots from rostered players. Both clubs will come with political baggage from parents though I have never heard stories about SJEB parents back stabbing others like you hear about at PDA.
Honestly, if it were my kid, I would look at SJEB first. They tend to have more skilled players, especially at the younger ages.
To this poster...Unless you actually know the how and why of the 07s and their down fall you shouldn't assume anything. This was the last true SJEB/Rush merger where a majority of each team was cut (most of which went to either PDA South or Real) during the combination and they kept 2 coaches with a history of bad blood between them as the co-coaches. Couple that with some bad luck with injuries to major players and I am surprised they are doing as well as they are.
Ultimately your choice will come down to - do you believe a GA National level team will have the same college exposure as one competing yearly at the lower brackets of the ECNL National Showcase and will it prepare your child for future success in soccer. My opinion is that until PDA South can demonstrate that they belong in ECNL and can commit to actual development of its players then they should not be an option for anyone who wants to be better. A patch does not make a player.

The good results against GA and EDP teams at the 1 tournament they went to, haha, what a joke. They barely beat NYSC 2-1, the team that is near last in GA at 0-6-2 sitting with 9 goals for and 22 against. They squeaked by Wall which might be in 2nd but that is an extremely weak division and are very inconsistent. Philly Coppa and Europa aren't exactly top contenders either even by USYS standards. That is some real quality.

At the end of the day the 09 coaching situation is nothing compared to a club constantly merging ( x3) trying to figure out how to be better then just average. How long has this club been around?????. Vanessa Kara developed through the PDA South system as a U12 to now pro. Please tell me the last pro player the SJEB club has developed in its environment??? I’ll wait. ??? The fact is you can’t!! You have such a hard on for this SJEB club, so tell me…who they have developed? We don't need to go player for player from each club but I think its funny ( and just dumb) that the picture you paint is that pda south doesn’t develop players at the younger age. If anything, it clearly shows pre puberty results means nothing bc in fact pda south has had many players have great success at the college/national/pro level and these are kids that stayed the course and didn’t leave bc they weren’t winning or playing a million tournaments at the younger ages 9-13. I think they have a u20 girl just called to national camp from pda south. when and who was the last she SJEB girl ( u15-u19) at National camp? When you talk how you talk you sound salty/jealous and like a hater because you aren't speaking on any facts, just here say, lies and propaganda

Like another one said my D has played both. SJEB has been stronger and I thought played a more skilled game. PDA south seemed to rely on back line and had truly impressive CB. Have played SJEB in futsal moved the ball well. Don't know anything about development or coaching though. While not as good as top 2 in the state at 09 both are towards the top end. Someone also said Real NJ. Those three all would be a good place to be. You have to weigh in travel for all three and the different leagues. SJEB is beating up on the GA and traveling, PDA south struggling and traveling. Also need to know what there need is or are they just filling out the roster. Understand roster size and playing time options. Also many clubs have game footage now sometimes on youtube. Might not hurt to find a game. May even ask the coach.

D has been through both and I can honestly say that SJEB will develop better then PDA South will, especially at these younger ages. If you really need or want ECNL in the future SJEB has a long history of player success at the older ages after moving to ECNL.
